WASHINGTON - Two former Vietnam prisoners of war who appear in ads attacking Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) were appointed by the Bush administration to a panel advising the Department of Veterans Affairs (news - web sites).

The former POWs in the ad, Kenneth Cordier and Paul Galanti, serve on the VA's 12-member Former POW Advisory Committee. VA Secretary Anthony Principi appointed Cordier in 2002 and Galanti in 2003.

Cordier said the VA panel has nothing to do with the Bush campaign or the anti-Kerry group. "It's totally apolitical, and we meet twice a year to bring to the secretary's attention problems from around the country in VA hospitals," he said.

Unbelievable.

3. I think it needs a new title.
I don't think a lot of people realize offhand who these guys are.

5. This is just a mild taste of the outrageous acts the Chimp will commit
if America elects this atrocity in November. Just think what the psychopathic Chimpanzee will do if he actually thinks he has a mandate and doesn't have to run for office anymore!

7. Cordier's gone...
... forced to resign from Bush/Cheney campaign because of Swift Boat fiasco, a couple of weeks ago.

The campaign claimed they had no idea that Cordier was working with the Swifties, and since he was a volunteer there were no McCain-Feingold violations.

Right. And pigs can fly...

9. I can't for the life of me figure out why this isn't getting
more attention here. This is the third thread I've seen about this and no one seems to be all that concerned about it.

10. Outrage overload?
I think the Swift Boat Liar thing has been somewhat eclipsed by the RNC slamfest -- not to mention the newest Time and Newseek polls ("THE SKY IS FALLING!!!").

Here's a kick anyway... :kick:

11. CNN's Real Goal is to Steal Fox's Audience
Its all about money. CNN should be all over this, along with all the media.

I am convinced CNN is doing all it can to appeal to the large audience Fox has picked up, and to do that, they have to appeal to that group. So how do you do that? First thing you don't do is expose Bush and the Swift Boat Veterans.

MSNBC, forget about them, their bosses are making it on the other end with rebuilding contracts for Iraq, so, they are not worried about being in last place for network ratings. Kind of like giving away the coffee but making it up on the food.
