History Say Bush-Cheney will Lose - Excellent Read!
Here's a very good email I just received from a D.C. Republican colleague:

Email Rec'd - 09.03.04

With the news of Clinton's health situation today it reminded me of these facts, I will share.

You know despite Clinton's problems in Office he never had approval ratings as low as "King Faud Bush". Even at the height of the Monica problems his approval ratings were still in 60’s. For example on Feb 1, 1998, Clinton hit a 69% percent approval rating. That rating was better than Ronald Reagan's highest approval rating!

Upon leaving office, Clinton had one of the highest approval ratings for a retiring President in U.S. history. King Bush’s approval rating is in the 40’s, and this little blip up in the low 50’s will go back down after the RNC hate feast in NYC is a sad memory for the GOP.

The GOP fear game is not going to work. People still vote from their pocketbook, and Bush-Cheney will lose.

Look at the great Winston Churchill, he saved England and help us beat the Nazi's in World War II, then right after the end of WWII in July 1945, he is voted out of office as England's Prime Minister because of continued economic and infrastructure problems on his home-front.

Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair is getting ready to learn the same lesson when he gets voted out of office. When that happens, and it will according to the British press, there goes our only large ally in the Iraq/Middle East fiasco.

Let us also remember that King Bush must overcome 48 years of history to win re-election over Democrat John Kerry. Since 1956, none of the three presidents who trailed in a Gallup Poll after February of a re-election year won a second term. – JAL.

1. Very refreshing!
I was looking at the same poll breakdowns.
Say - I'm an East-Coast Republican, can I do a simple search to find your site or do you have a link I can use?

4. Another Factoid - The Angry Convention Loses
While somewhat subjective, I heard someone say that the party that has the most disruptive convention or appears the angriest loses. You can apply that to the nasty Democratic fights of the 68 & 72...Raygun vs. Ford in '76...Carter/Kennedy in '80, the GOOP hatest in '92 and some will say the this week's GOOP hatefest.

The person said the undecideds look at these conventions and say "do I want to be like these people"...and when they see hate and division, it can trump any issue or candidate. The opposite can be said if there's a harmoious and positive convention (ala Clintons).

Interesting tidbit in a mountain of tidbits

7. Worthless Polls, Caused Clinton to Think He Lost in 1992 against H.W. Bush
I have posted this a half a dozen times at DU, but in '92, the night before the election James Carvelle and George Steph, that were running Clinton's campaign, thought Clinton was going to lose against H.W.Bush based on the polls. For 6 weeks coming into election day the polls showed that Clinton had basically lost all his lead.

Clinton slammed Bush the next day 370/168 electoral votes and the rest if history!

In 2004 we have almost identical dymanics going on in this Presidental election and Papa H.W. Bush knows it! That's why the Bush Texas Mafia is going nuts, and remember Papa Bush still really hates Clinton, LOL.

Bottom line, in politics, nothing at the surface is every what is REALLY going on.

12. Remind your friend that it wasn't "just" the U.S. and Britain who won....
the war. :eyes:

Small issue here, but rather important to Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders(?), and the other Allied Forces, who were in WW2 long before the Americans were. :)
