2. Welcome reminder
For me not to pay attention to polls. Especially "likely voter" polls. I've been slipping on that resolution lately.

5. Yes...I agree...
It's hard not to look at them, but this election is different. There are many voters out there who have not voted in the past two or three elections who are really inspired to cast W out of office. Also, there is a new face that is shaping the young minds of new voters this year: Jon Stewart. I think if the 18-22 year old set votes in record numbers this year, it will be -- in some part -- due to the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

10. Not to mention Howard Stern's hatred of chimpy.
That is going to pull a lot of votes for Senator Kerry.

3. LOL
Good thing you pulled this out. Some people were going nuts. It will take some time to see the full effect of the convention and see what kind of realistic bounce he got.

11. Mary Beth Cahill's said there may been a couple problems with TIME poll.
She did not elaborate nor did Judy question her further.

8. Unfortunately
The poll you cite above was taken BEFORE the Gore convention, with it's unprecedented bounce.

12. But this was prior to Gore's convention
Gore had a big bump and was leading after the DNC that year.

18. So?
You are arguing that the poll swings in every election must follow the same pattern?

The point is the polls are and always have been all over the place. *shrug*

Ain't gonna be polls. Gonna be turnout. Even Rove knows that.

16. Yep
Also, no incumbent president who served out his full term and won reelection did so w/out a 9+ boost in the polls heading int September.

17. Big difference.
This poll never calculated the Gore bounce he got after the 2000 Democratic Convention. After the DNC Convention, Gore gained A LOT of lost ground and pulled into a dead heat with Bush for the next couple of months.

Kerry has already done his convention.

21. Not to mention Bush lost his 17 point lead in a single week
and that was before the DNC had even started.
