West Plains billboard depicts Obama wearing a turban

A billboard in West Plains, Mo., showing a caricature of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wearing a turban has caused quite a stir in town.

The sign, located south of West Plains on U.S. 63 across from the Dairy Queen, says: "Barack 'Hussein' Obama equals more abortions, same sex marriages, taxes, gun regulations."

Hussein is Obama's middle name. His Kenyan father was Muslim, but Obama grew up in a Christian family.

Throughout the presidential campaign, Obama has fought Internet rumors that he's Muslim.

Howell County Democrats are upset about the sign.

I wrote a letter to the editor that published today, so I visited the website today to see the letter and saw this billboard instead.

34. No, it isn't--but I lived back there in the area

I worked in Springfield at KYTV in the 60's and have family in the area. My family moved back there when I was in 8th grade after my dad retired from the Navy. We had a small farm and I love the area, still go to HS reunions there even though I graduated HS in California. I was a Navy brat. 2 junior high schools, 3 high schools.

So, I still read the local newspaper back there and when I was seeing that MO might go blue I checked the News-Leader today. It broke my heart. So, no it isn't my home town but I am tied to the area through family and long time friends.

If anyone doesn't know, it's the republican dumbshit capitol of Missouri. West Plains is a small town, but Springfield and Joplin are down there two, equally bad (well, Springfield not so much anymore). It's where our suck-ass governor Little Matty Blunt comes from (his daddy being Roy Blunt).

So this isn't too surprising to me.
