WP: Anger Is Crowd's Overarching Emotion at McCain Rally( who is James T. Harris?)

WAUKESHA, Wis., Oct. 9 -- There were shouts of "Nobama" and "Socialist" at the mention of the Democratic presidential nominee. There were boos, middle fingers turned up and thumbs turned down as a media caravan moved through the crowd Thursday for a midday town hall gathering featuring John McCain and Sarah Palin.

"It is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama, that you hit him where it hits, there's a soft spot," said James T. Harris, a local radio talk show host, who urged the Republican nominee to use Barack Obama's controversial former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., and others against him.

"We have the good Reverend Wright. We have Pfleger. We have all of these shady characters that have surrounded him," Harris bellowed. "We have corruption here in Wisconsin and voting across the nation. I am begging you, sir. I am begging you. Take it to him."

The crowd of thousands roared its approval.

In recent days, a campaign that embraced the mantra of "Country First" but is flagging in the polls and scrambling for a way to close the gap as the nation's economy slides into shambles has found itself at the center of an outpouring of raw emotion rare in a presidential race.

and then this from the NYT:
McCain Joins Attacks on Obama Over Radical

Mr. Obama, in turn, condemned Mr. McCain’s plan for the government to buy bad home loans as a “bailout” for risk-taking banks and lenders, and he told several thousand voters in Dayton, Ohio, that Mr. McCain’s approach to the financial crisis was “risky” and “erratic,” a word Mr. Obama used twice.

The language and tone indicated that both men would continue their negative campaigning in the final weeks before Election Day, even as voters say they want solutions to the worsening economic conditions rather than back-and-forth blasts from the stump.

But what has been most striking about the last 48 hours on the campaign trail is the increasingly hostile atmosphere at Mr. McCain’s rallies, where voters furiously booed any mention of Mr. Obama and lashed out at the Democrats, Wall Street and the news media.

“I’m really mad!” shouted a man in the audience in Waukesha, where Mr. McCain and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, were conducting a town-hall-style meeting. “And what’s going to surprise you, it’s not the economy. It’s the socialists taking over our country.”

3. I agree with you.
This is reminding me of everything I have read about the early nazi rallies in Germany and Austria.

4. I never saw anything so ridiculous in my entire life
Supporters turning on a candidate during a rally? These people are seriously beyond desperate. They just don't get it--people don't care about character attacks when they're getting evicted from their homes.

Of course, they were handing out anti-ACORN booklets outside the rally, that said "voter faud is allowed because it benefits the Democrats!" No comment. And a McCain campaign official rationalized the anger by supporters by saying that McCain gets anti-war activists who "yell" at him (and these are supposedly Obama supporters?), and Obama told them to argue with people and get in their face! Um, like Hannity, douchebags? Plus, I am not hearing nazi-esque anti-McCain chants at Obama's rallies, assholes. This is extremely dangerous.

10. Oh, but we're supposed to ignore this shit, right? And it'll just go away, hmmm?
The crowds that show up for his rallies these days appear to have little appetite for the talk of bipartisan compromise that had been at the heart of his message around the Republican National Convention. During a rally outside a small airport in Mosinee, Wis., on Thursday, McCain said that "it's time we come together, Democrats and Republicans to work together. That's my record. I'll reach across the aisle."

The crowd stood silent.

Am I the only one that sees these nuts as REALLY FUCKING DANGEROUS?

13. I'm with you, I think McCain/Palin are going down a very destructive path
for our country and nominee. They want to win regardless of how they get there.

17. I don't even think it's about winning at this point. This is blind, frothing HATRED.
They want to hurt us (Democrats) and our candidate. This is a prelude. The longer this is allowed to fester, the long McCain and Palin are allowed to incite these people, the greater the risk is of something awful happening.

We've got to do something. Action is required.

15. I just visited this assholes website...look at this shit!
These people are fucking nuts!!!

"In 2006, the Democrats had a strategy and worked it. Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid brilliantly manipulated the desire of the populace for change. The phrase "it can't get worse" was on the lips of many Americans.

The Dems won in a landslide.

With the Leftist takeover of both the House and Senate, and Democrats firmly ensconced in leadership of all major committees, I have only one question:

Are you better off today than you were two years ago?

Are you prepared to trust Barack Obama to change things again?

NObama!"

Also, I sent him a nice email telling him how fucking lost and crazy he is and that the same crowd he just entertained would kill his ass in a minute!

Word on this blog says:

James "Hip Beggings" Harris

Infamous Milwaukee nut-right blogger and motivational speaker James "Hip Musings" Harris turned up at a Palin-McCain event in Waukesha, WI this afternoon "begging" McCain to crank up the fallacious guilt-by-association sleaze against Barack Obama:

A local African-American conservative talk radio host named James T. Harris also brought up what he called Obama’s "soft spot," which he said included "ACORN," "the good Rev. Wright," and other "shady characters that have surrounded him."

"I am begging you, sir," Harris said. "I am begging you. Take it to him."

According to another acolyte present, Harris initially was behind several hundred others waiting in line to enter the venue, but was whisked to the front by observant McCain operatives, and CNN aired a clip of the blogger standing within a few feet of McCain. Begging.
