I would like a Freeper to inform me what they actually think Marxism is... or socialism for that matter... their description seems have to have been lost on Marx, Gramsci, Luxemburg et al.

Democrat = Socialist = Communist, and - you are right - I doubt they know much at about any of the above.

I find many Republicans don't know much about their party, and many of the "religious" right know next to nothing of religion other than the bits of nonsense they want to believe.
