WASHINGTON - Two former Vietnam prisoners of war who appear in ads attacking Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry were appointed by the Bush administration to a panel advising the Department of Veterans Affairs.

7. Cordier was an actual advisor to the Bush/Cheney CAMPAIGN on

"Veterans Affairs" and resigned from this position just as the second Swift Smear ad featuring him appeared.

I don't think he had a federal Dept of Vet Affairs position.

Also, he was an Air Force pilot and POW, so I'm not sure how he gets to be a "Swift Boat Veteran."

I went over to the Editorials board and read skip fox's collection, and it is the same guy I was thinking of. So, evidently it's not okay to be associated with the campaign, but it IS okay to be in a position to have some influence over the gov't and also try to influence the election. What a screwed up system!

I don't understand why the Kerry campaign won't use this Pulitzer Prize winning story. It would backup what Kerry had had said in 1971 about the Atrocities in Vietnam.
