Can I breathe now? Does this officially KILL her 2012 chances?
I have been confident (but not over confident) of an Obama victory for a couple weeks now, but in the back of mind, I've been concerned that that little twit would be back on our TV screens in four years and, unless Obama led a flawless first term, the idiot values voters would be lining up to vote for her.

So can I officially STOP worrying about her now? PLEASE tell me this now means I wont have to ever see here again after Novemeber 4th!!!

2. I doubt it, shes the Republican golden child.
The McCain defeat will be spun to be in spite of her, not because of her.

Only way to kneecap her politically is to defeat her Gov re-election bid.

20. She's on an Alaskan *bipartisan* shit list
She's toast.

Not just toast, incinerated.

Not just incinerated, radioactive.

Not just any type of radiation, more like glowing blue from Cerenkov radiation.

26. The GOP entrusted its future to McCain...
...and he repaid them by selecting Palin. By and large, the party accepted her as its future.

Depending upon the Alaska Legislature's next moves, and (always) the MSM spin of the next few days, the party's future is looking mighty foolish and corrupt.

Their next presidential ticket's vetting will have to include a proctologist.

She could never make a sustained national campaign. Repukes are fickle; they'll forget her as quickly as they started worshipping her.

18. but the committee said that...
...she did nothing illegal, correct?

But that she DID abuse her power?

Freep types will love that she "abused her power."

"What's the use of having power if you can't abuse it?"...they'll say

19. Katie Couric killed her chances in 2012 to even bother about Troopergate.
She'll only have the fundies but everyone else will remember she abused her powers and her political career is destroyed. Especially if Alaska turns Blue and she gets impeached.

She's an imbecile. Party leaders would never allow her into the position of being an actual candidate for President, and they wouldn't have allowed her into the position she's in now if they'd had more control over McCain. He's truthful in one aspect regarding his claim of being a "Maverick." He doesn't listen to people and does things of his own accord against all good advice.

Her only purpose, ever, has been window dressing, something to lure Hillary supporters. But they fucked up. No real feminist would ever in a million years vote for or "support" this psychopath because she stands for everything the feminist movement has fought against for over a century. Elizabeth Cady Stanton would hurl at the thought of this vile beast in a position of power. Palin was brought in for a single purpose, without proper vetting, and she has proved to be a big fucking bomb of bullshit.

25. Clio, she never had a shot at 2012 anyway
From the minute she was announced, she has been proven to be uninformed and borderline incoherent. Her policies stink, her accent is atrocious and some people believe (rightly or wrongly) that she's a ho.

She's out, my friend. In 2012, she'll have probably had a few more kids and/or grandkids by then and will be too busy playing peek-a-boo to worry about politics.

And btw, I have NEVER seen anyone rack up over 1 THOUSAND posts in one month!! Dear GOD your fingers must be tired!

29. I don't think she ever had a chance in 2012 but if she did then I doubt this would have killed it
Here is the way I look at it (sorry, but this won't be popular):

1) If McCain were to somehow win then I doubt he would seek a second term. Even then, I don't think Palin would be running for the GOP nomination in 2012. Instead she would say that she wanted to spend all 4 years assisting McCain, figuring that it would be better for her to run at a later date. Romney gets the GOP nomination in 2012.

2) If Obama wins then, with or without trooper-gate, I doubt that Palin was ever going to run in 2012. Romney gets the GOP nomination in 2012.

3) I don't think this story is going to go as far as some would like it to. There's nowhere for it to go from here. She isn't being indicted, she isn't being impeached. And I doubt she can be beaten in an Alaska GOP primary. Which means that she is likely to win re-election as governor in 2010. Sorry. But I think that she will be running for U.S. Senate in 2014 in the hopes of running for president in 2020 or beyond.

The bottom like is that Sarah Palin will not completely disappear. But I don't think she is going to be the GOP nominee anytime soon.

Steve
