This meets overwhelming cosmic irony.

Palin isn't in trouble because of what she did, rather as TPM describes it:

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/

The report details the extraordinary lengths that Gov. Palin, largely through her husband Todd, went to get her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper, fired because of personal family reasons (namely, his nasty divorce from Palin's sister) . It was this effort, which led to pressure being improperly brought to bear on numerous state employees, that constituted an abuse of power by Palin. As it should be. State employees should not be subject to personal vendettas from elected officials.

Think about it.

A charismatic female vice presidential candidate gets into a major ethics probe and is found guilty primarily not because of her actions, but because her husband becomes uncontrollable and takes executive action on his own, and it is a Republican and not the Democrats.

If you could go back in time and get a bookie to take that bet the odds would have been a million to one that it would be the VP Democratic candidate and not the Republican.

1. Grantcart,
what do you mean by this? "If you could go back in time and get a bookie to take that bet the odds would have been a million to one that it would be the VP Democratic candidate and not the Republican." I know I'm tired, but I'm not understanding this line.

2. there was widespread concern that if Senator Clinton was the VP Democratic nominee
that it might be difficult to control President Clinton.

In a weird Shakesperean on LSD twist of events it is an unknown Republican VP candidate who is helping to destroy their Presidential ticket because she couldn't control her husband.

Sorry if it was too eliptical.

3. I see, I was looking at the fundy angle when I read it. The little woman big man thing.
Thanks for the clarification! :P
