Kerry is not down and out
Bush had his propaganda blitz. Now comes the level playing field. Now comes focus. Bush is polling ahead, but a swing this large mostly points up the wishy washiness of the ones who were polled. (I've never been polled).

Kerry is the better candidate. Bush has offered nothing but a tired rehash of loser initiutives. Privatize Social Security? Stay the course? I still don't believe that in the age of cell phones that they are actually reaching the majority of Americans. Then there is that percentage of folks who work several jobs to keep their head above water in this Bush economy. CNN and others swore up and down for years that Bill Clinton wouldn't win, and they also swore that Bush would win the popular vote against Gore.

They call this polling lead as significant, but I call it an anomoly. It is an abberation in a campaign that has been dead even before the propaganda blitz and the fawning press. If Bush can leap up this fast he can go down just as fast.

I haven't lost a bit of optimism about our victory in November. Aside from a few panicked posters I see the same regulars here who have been carping and grousing all along, now ready to bury this campaign. Their message: Kerry can't win. Those aren't the voices that will carry us through to victory.

My message: Kerry will win. Deal with it.

2. I just want a quick rant at the people who think...
Kerry needs to change his demeanor. I don't want some beer swilling low brow in office. We've got that now. Look at the good it's done us. None.

I just read another poll asking who people would rather enjoy a beer with. It's insane. He's not average. That's good, I don't want an average shmoe in office. He needs to be his intelligent, analytical and nuanced self. We need to convince people they need a deep thinker, not some guy who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

I just don't get why people think we need someone to relate to in office. Believe me, I'm an average guy and no way I'd trust the U.S. to the likes of me. :scared:

3. Let's be honest.
Bush is an idiot, but he has a way of getting people's attention and capturing their hearts, because he speaks to their fear and their selfishness.

People think he's a decisive leader who follows through and doesn't budge. That's what sells them. And he shows them that America under his leadership is a force.

It doesn't matter to them that it's a force for interests that have nothing to do with our defence.

It doesn't matter that his decisions have crippled us in ways that we are only BEGINNING to see.

It doesn't matter even that he has shit on the Geneva convention, inflicted hardship on others that we can't measure and destroyed the great sympathy that other nations shared with us.

And so many people are swayed by the face he shows them, one of resolve and narrowness.

This is a powerful force that must be dealt with if Kerry is to win, make no mistake about it.

4. More folks are motivated to vote against something or someone
than for something or someone. The anti-Bush crowd is huge. I expect him to infuriate them further and drive record numbers, who seemed either apathetic in the last election or felt they could afford to risk Bush geetting in. I don't feel that this time. I feel a panic out here that Bush might get in. That should get folks off of their butts and into the voting booth.
