If Montana won't come to Obama,
maybe Obama should go to Montana?

It would be sweet if Cheney's home state turned blue...

And it's already going pink!

1. I'd rather him focus on states we need to win.
Not much time left, so have him continue to campaign in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico.

3. All of those states are already blue, except for North Carolina
which is trending blue:

4. They're leaning blue.
You still want to lock 'em up.

20. I agree
We need to lead by multiple percentage points and work hard to get the vote out. It is way too easy to loose a state you are polling ahead in 4 weeks prior to the election.

10. Obama's all-state strategy has dragged McLoser to Nebraska, WV...
and other states that are supposed to be safe for him. This is a huge waste of McCrypt's money. Thus Obama can fortify his lead in REAL battleground states.

Obama chasing Montana would be incredibly helpful.

Still...

Montana would be a stab right at the heart of Republican country.

8. Hey..no need to blush
and I think you're right, Montana may be doable for Obama.
Remember he was in Butte on the 4th of July for their parade. He had his entire family there and it was his daughter's birthday too.
I don't know if this late in the game, he will return, given that there are few precious weeks left.
But, looking at your chart, he is trending up and may pull it off yet.

6. Let's do a thought experiment
Let's say I drop you in the middle of a big square state with a lot of a cold desert in it. As you look around you see you're surrounded by sand, cattle, and Wily-Coyote-style mesas. If anyone comes along, he's in a pick up and he thinks taxes are too high. Quick now: are you in Wyoming or Montana?

Trick question: you're in Utah

9. that's kind of funny but...
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 03:31 PM by PearliePoo2
I didn't intend my post to be snarky at all.
Montana is my birth state and I know it well.
Montana's population is growing and although there are plenty of pickup trucks, there also are plenty of wealthy progressive people moving there. The environment is a huge issue with these people and they have influence.
Have you been to Montana? It isn't all sand and mesas.
The Rocky Mountains run South to North in Western Montana. The forests are thick, rivers and streams abound, and the lakes are too many to count.
The members of my family that live in Montana are all Union people and they are voting for Obama.

11. Governor Schweitzer believes that the Ron Paul effect is being ignored by pollsters
Saw him on TV (maybe CNN) this past week and he said that Ron Paul has somewhere between 5 and 8 percent support that some polls aren't accounting for, and thus the race is a dead heat there.

13. I was riding in an ambulance the other day
and chatting with the driver. He had given my client and I a ride once before, back while the primaries were still in full swing, and we both remembered because we share the same name, and had a good chat at that time.

He is a recent transplant from Montana, is being sent back to iraq in approximately 3 months, and a lifelong Pub. He wasn't too sure of what he would vote, given that he is indifferent toward McCain, Scared Shitless of Palin, and feels that "the black guy, whatshis name" is pretty inexperienced. He was planning to either settle for Obama, because he doesn't want to spend more money and life in Iraq(particularly his own) or write in Paul, because he thinks he is a good guy.

We had a good chat, again. I think I made him an Obama voter. What did it was the story of a friend of mine. He works for a charity, and part of his job required him to register as a lobbyist. When he donated to Obama, the money was returned. The fact Obama does not accept lobby money, and actively returns it was big in the drivers book, action not just word.

Anyhow, the relevance to this is that as we talked, I mentioned that Paul will be on the Montana Ballot. I will grant you that this man is more impressed with Paul and not exactly objective, but his immediate comment was that Paul would probably TAKE Montana. Now, I don't share his assessment, but the fact that this was his immediate response tells me that Paul will likely pull a significant amount of support from McCain. And that is a good thing. I don't know that it will be enough, but wouldn't taking Montana be just a fine pastel candy flower to decorate the Virginia/Florida Icing of a landslide

16. Yes, there are lots of Ron Paul enthusiasts in rural areas everywhere.
Maybe, just maybe, this could be the Perot effect.
There's lots of time left for McWolfKiller to further implode.
The revelations about her keep mounting and they are problematic.

and his interpretation was that Montana as a whole has an independent streak to it. :hi:

though it was closer than most places.

35 Bush
32 Perot

23. Stop using The Google on The Internets to prove me wrong!

But seriously, he did say something to that effect on CNN. Maybe he just meant that he felt that Perot was the deciding factor, that maybe without Perot Bush would have won. :hi:

25. Hi back to ya!
Schweitzer is hugely popular and he is a Dem.
The guy has a big political future ahead of him. He has all the tools.
He is perfect.
Soft-spoken, good looking in a kindly way, rugged/athletic, man of the land, worked his ass off on a family ranch, rides REAL horses and loves animals.
He endorses Obama.

30. Definitely, "Jag" is an awesome Border Collie!
He goes EVERYWHERE with him.
And that's why Schweitzer said he's not interested in a Presidential bid because his dog would not like moving from the country to Washington DC.
(I too, am somewhat partial to his dog, since I adopted a Border Collie and she is the love of my life!) :loveya:

31. My parents also adopted a Border Collie
and she is the sweetest dog I have ever met! I know the Obama's were going to adopt a dog after the election and I know I would recommend adopting from a Border Collie Rescue (I will after I move into a place where I can have a dog); no matter what type of dog they adopt though I think it's great that they're going to adopt!

14. Wyoming is considered Cheney's home state, he has a home in Jackson
actually somewhere in Jackson's Hole, the valley up here. Arnold Shortsinvader has a home there too. It is a funny place. This time of year the standard garb for women with way too much money is shortie style down jacket, faux fur lined boots with jeans tucked in them, and an australian cowboy hat. It is high hilarity.

But at the same time, a short stop couldn't hurt I guess... if it fit into a schedule. It would certainly say something to make a brief stop in Montana.
