I Honestly Think: BUSH. IS. OVER.
Come on folks, ONE flawed, partial poll right after the GOP propaganda fest freaks you all out so badly?

I think there is gonna be a baaad hangover here, especially as more facts about what was said come out.

How can a one-week peptalk on Iraq erase the reality of Iraq, day after day? Kerry's a closer; he's saving his big guns for the finish line and I feel it in my bones, from the debates on, the little blip is going to be chipped away at.

My prediction is that the media will call it too close to call, but the fatal flaw is they are NOT POLLING FIRST TIME VOTERS, they are going big time for Kerry, especially the college aged ones.

Be happy!! BUSH IS ALMOST OVER!

1. I have to agree. I have never seen so many disgruntled people in my
life. Even some diehard Republicans I know are pained over that fiasco of a convention/tent revival of hate. We're on our way. :hi:

3. Debates
The debates are going to be critical. If Bush only tries to do 2 debates instead of the standard 3, it will hurt him. It will show that he is afraid to debate Kerry. I think Kerry will do well in the debates.

8. I read a WaPo article that mentioned...
GOP is worried about FL because of who has been registered recently. My guess is they are seeing the wrong zip codes.

the right-track/wrong track numbers, and both candidates' unfavorables.

Unless and until those change significantly, you're seeing noise, not motion.

There are lots of first time black voters here. Plus, I gave my Kerry button to a Cuban woman from Miami. She told me there are lots of Cubans voting for Kerry this time.

12. Voter registration appears to be up in Pennsylvania.
And, it would appear that by Gallup's methodology, these new, highly motivated registrants are not being counted as "likely voters," which all the polls seem to be focusing on these days. Gallup specifically considers past voter history as one of the "likely" traits.

We shouldn't be surprised at a surge in voter registrations. So many more people have more of a personal stake in this election than they did four years ago. Most of us are only a couple of degrees separated from someone being deployed to the Middle East. New Yorkers and DCers had their cities attacked. Two hundred thousand retired steel workers alone lost health care benefits in 2003, along with unknown hundreds of thousands of other Americans. Those of us little guys who do the math know that the Bush tax cuts were immediately compensated for by a raise in state and local taxes, while the wealthiest Americans skated off with billions.

And most importantly of all, gloss it over though the Bush Administration might, there are somewhere between three and four million Americans who have had the personal experience of losing a job in the past four years. The Bush Administration can try to cover up the damage by talking about net job loss and the like, but they cannot erase the travails that millions of Americans have faced while the President lied to them and told them the economy was recovering. There are millions more underemployed Americans, as well as those who simply aren't counted anymore.

That's a lot of people with a score to settle against this most dishonest, least populist of Presidents. The President won by a hair's breadth in 2000 with minus 540,000 votes--or one vote on the Supreme Court, depending how you look at it.

This arouses both confidence and suspicion in me.

I'm confident because I'm pretty sure that many pollsters are ignoring this important phenomenon, which could lead to an "unexpected" and perhaps even overwhelming election victory--hopefully with nice long coattails, too.

I'm suspicious because while I realize that the press and polling corporations have a massive stake in keeping the numbers tight and interesting, it opens the door wide open for massive electoral fraud. If the election is stolen (some would add "again"), it's going to be extremely easy to defend because of this long string of apparently close polls.

Since the perfection of the "Southern Strategy" in the 1960s, Republican success has depended upon keeping voters away from the polls through intimidation, bureaucratic disenfranchisement, and disgusting negativity. Anyone who watched this week's convention knows that none of that is going to change this year.

What has changed is the number of people out there who aren't being counted in the polls, who aren't expected to show up, who know that they have one chance to reverse this horribly negative decline from greatness that America has suffered in twelve hundred short days. And they're pissed, just as we are. Let's hope they show up--and are counted.

14. Voter registration UP UP UP in Virginia....
we've been working real hard for the past year, and very hard for the past 6 months...at every local event, at every apartment building, at every senior citizens home, everywhere...all the time...

Virginia is turning blue, because of the HUGE influx of immigrants...many of whom are now citizens and ready to vote...this year, the Catholics got a major change onto the voter registration rules...the HOMELESS can now register to vote (which was not allowed before)...and we have many more homeless here for this election under bush*...our voter registration drives are being led in different location by multi-lingual volunteers...our local taxi drivers (from Mali, Ghana, and east African countries) are proud to display their Kerry bumper stickers on our local cabs in Northern Virginia...and we have LOTS of people who move to Virginia (especially near DC) and have forgotten to change their voter registration from other states, also Virginia follows Florida's mindlessness...if you don't vote in every election, you can be purged and will find that out TOO LATE at the Voter's booth....so we show people where to call and check their voter's registration status...and so should YOU....

EVERY SINGLE UNION in Virginia has endorsed Kerry.....
it's totally amazing...electrical workers, government workers, police and fire fighter unions, grocery store workers, EVERYBODY...

but's it's still a hard fight ahead...and YOUR help is needed...

STAND UP and help voters get registered.....

15. Bush is over.
I like it when people look at voter registration figures. I work for Wisconsin Citizen Action which is attempting to register 10,000 people in primarily low income communities. Registration has been increasing at just the right time. We have so many groups working strategically to the left of the Democrats to be able to make up for any mistakes that the party may make. Bush may think he's going to steal the election, but we're going to buy it back!

17. Only one thing worries me...OBL.
I'm increasingly convinced that they'll pull Osama out of a hat sometime in October. Not sure if that'll be enough to tip the scales in Bush*'s favor or not, or if OBL is even still alive, but other than that, I think Kerry is virtually a lock.

25. The fact that OBL was never mentioned by name even once--
--at the Rethug convention, leads me to believe his kidneys gave out long ago, and if he's on ice, he has unsightly freezer burn. But then, you never know. I hope the campaign has a Plan B here.

24. Thank you for all these positive posts and good news!
We have to continue to fight the manipulation of the news media by corporate interests that support shrub.

Americans can fight against corporatism and fascism if we show up at the polls. Voter turnout is key!

27. It's all about the turnout
Look at the primaries and the places where we had record turnouts. People want Bush out and the new people going to vote are not being counted in these polls.

Bush is almost over! I agree. ;-)
