to John Kerry. He thinks that if Kerry isn't in bush's face then he's weak. Dean made a good point that the American people want a grown-up in the WH!

Go Dean:bounce:

7. Did he wince when he said that?
;) Hey, Dean himself can laugh, so can I... It's not without a sense of irony that I recall articles and essays just a week before Iowa asking, "Should Kerry just drop out now?"

16. Are you talking about Maher or Kerry? If Kerry please explain- last
race he had an opponent Weld, helped by Clinton in 96- who was not going to lose Mass, had to campaign for him, taking time away from other close states. And Weld was falling all over himself as the campaign was ending, literally.

36. There isn't any real difference on Iraq
Kerry hasn't said what needs to be said. It was a useless, needless war.

Saying "I'd have made the same mistake, except I'd do it better."

43. Kerry said that he would vote
to give bush the authority to go to war because it was right under what they thought were the circumstances (WMD) to give him the leverage needed to keep Saddam from throwing out or impeding the weapons inspectors. THAT is why Kerry voted like he did. And according to Joe Wilson's book there was a threat from Saddam in the first gulf war ( I demonstrated against that one too) because Saddam would have gained access to the sea and the wealth of Kuwait and all the bad that could have come from that.

I don't have the link anymore, but anyone who reads Kerry's speech on the floor of the house before the vote would know exactly why he voted like he did and that his position is nothing like Bush's in any way, not even on the same planet.

Finally, we need to remember that we do have troops fighting in Iraq and Kerry is a patriot through and through. If he comes out blasting against the war, that would not be good for our troops. When and if he wins the presidency, he will be doing everything in his power to bring them home and keep us out of these illegitimate, preemptive, evil wars!!!!

38. Some Dean comments I put in another thread. He was great.
Nothing really new, but very outspoken.

Bad connection at first, Dean joked that the connection was good until Zell challenged him to a duel. Laughed. He said they may never have to run my speech again, now they have Zell.

Audience laughed and applauded, Dean said he liked the audience, would take them to VT, NH, etc, and got a big cheer on that.

Maher said he may have been a loose cannon, but at least he had a cannon. Said maybe people were having buyers' remorse. Kept talking over Dean at that point. Maher was very critical of Kerry, irritates a little, but it is his show.

Dean said he and Weld knew what a good finisher he was, so he knew he would be ok.

Said the stuff they said in the convention was (and he would say it nicer than Maher) was "not true." Said it will catch up with them soon. Said Bush had 9.0 level of difficulty in the speech with 0.0 credibility.

Said Bush took Kerry's position on the war in Iraq. Said people really do want to like the US, they want to cooperate...they just don't like Bush. He destroyed all the alliances.

He said they were presenting theoretical neoconservative nonsense, and they had turned Iraq into a major danger in the world. Said Kerry would be able to enlist the help of others who knew the danger there. Maher told him to get ready for 2008, then cut him off before he could say not until 2012.
