Terratacks and Terralerts Before Election 2004
Many people have said that a large and devastating terratack on U.S. soil or a Code Red terralert could easily swing the election to Bush. But the truth is, it all depends on the timing.

If there is a large terratack on U.S. soil in the 2-3 weeks before the election, then yes, Bush is going to win without a doubt. It'll be 9/11 all over again. End of story.

But if there is a large terratack on U.S. soil any earlier than that, it will probably work against Bush. I saw on Nightline last night that a huge number of people are voting for Bush because he ahs "kept the country safe." So, if there is a large terratack - and enough time between it and the election for the patriotic fervor/rallying 'round the shrub to wear off - then people are going to face reality and realize that Bush has not kept them safe.

As far as terralerts, I think a Code Red issued a week or two before the election would swing things toward Bush.

But if the terralert is issued any closer to the election, like the day or two before, people will realize that it's a political move and it will probably backfire.

2. I think any code red at this point is suspect
And actual attack, that's another matter.

3. I don't agree that at this time he has a chance if we are
attacked again, that would mean he did NOT keep us safe and the people will flock to Kerry....

They would be extremely foolish to allow another attack just to keep their agenda going at this time when Bush's failures have been so exposed, the only thing they got going for them is to not have another attack...
