"9/11 wasn't a triumph of the human spirit
it was the fuck up of a guy on a vacation."

Just when I think Bill Maher is watering himself down, he sets a firecracker.

3. paraphrased
9/11 wasn't a triumph of the human sprit, it was a fuck-up by a guy on vacation. Someone had to stay in that class to protect the kids from Chechen rebels.... Stop celebrating the deadliest attack ever as your personal rendezvous with greatness....Even your dad didn't run for reelection on his war and puking on the Japanese....You want us to concentrate on how you like in a fireman's hat.,...but crying during your speech? There is a name for people who use historical acts to win elections...they're called the Swift Boat vets....'

7. He's always mesmerized by cleavage. But his wrap-up was a Classic.

Franklin Roosevelt didn't claim that Pearl Harbor was his finest hour!

9. How anyone could have been "impressed" by the RNC
obviously wasn't watching the same thing I was.

The twins were "cute"...excuse me? They were a friggin' embarrassment..

I will agree on one thing though...Jason Alexander hit the nail square on the head when he said with everything that is on the line this year who the fuck are these people that are "undecided"..

12. Jenna Bush Interned for Bill Maher's Production Co.
That's where that comment came from.

10. I could be wrong but I think the comment on the twins
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 11:04 PM by sandraj
was mostly sarcastic. He was talking about what "little scaliwags" they were and showed a clip of their speech, but that led into a bit where Maher claimed to have the twins' spiral notebook with jokes they were going to tell but didn't. There was a very tasteless one about Ralph Reed and the twins' hamster that got a good laugh out of everyone.

8. That Rubble is a powerful sigil for Bush
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 11:04 PM by Bok_Tukalo
But I am glad somebody (granted, someone on the fringe of the media) called the Bush Campaign on their shameless exploitation of the attack.

I remember when a brief glimpse in a campaign commercial had a few howling. Now, the backbone of the RNC was Bush standing on the backs of the dead (literally and figuratively) yet no one seems to be pointing it out.

15. mynameisdane.. do you know if there is a transcript for the show
The quote that you gave was followed by more & I'm trying to get a copy of what Maher said. If only Kerry would do what Maher said, hit bush on 9/11, he would showed bush for the incompetent hypocrite he is. Kerry, please listen! Thanks!

17. That needs to be a "meme."
I don't know why we sit still for all the crap about how well Bush did after 9-11.

A bassett hound in the oval office could have united the US in the immediate aftermath of 9-11. Any sense of unity and purpose was not an accomplishment of Bush.

In fact, a bassett hound could have probably done a BETTER job than Bush in keeping the country together after 9-11.

18. All I saw at the time was him running around the country
'cause he was scared to go home and then to climb up with a fireman after things settled down a few days later with a megaphone. Yep, that's leadership.
