What the HELL is this shit about Kerry being so incredibly liberal?? LOL!
If I hear about Kerry being such a HUGE SCARY liberal one more time I will laugh myself to death.

Yet another bush voter said that to me this evening. I immediately started laughing. Then I told him this:

"Look. Kerry's a Democrat and he definitely has liberal leanings. But to freak out over him and claim him to be some HUGE flaming liberal is so freaky as to be humorous. *I* am a huge flaming liberal! To me, Dennis Kucinich is a touch conservative, ok? Let me list out for you the things a REALLY HUGELY liberal President would do. He or she would:

1. Immediately repeal all drug laws.

2. Immediately work his/her ass off for full GLBT rights, effective as quickly as possible.

3. Pull 90-100% of the US troops out of Iraq AFTER he/she got UN/NATO troops in. Work to make sure the mess we made is fixed, but sure as hell don't start any new ones!

4. Work his/her ass off to release America and its people from the stranglehold huge corporations have on it.

5. Lop 25% off the defense budget right away and take that money and use it to fully fund K-12 education, Head Start, universal health coverage for EVERY American citizen, and college tuition for everyone who gets in. (Yes, 25% of the defense budget would most likely do ALL that!)

6. Work his/her ass off to not just reduce but eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. Major initiatives to get automakers to make more hybrids, produce them faster and make them even better.

7. Get the environmental protections bush rolled back back into place AND THEN SOME. Work on big initiatives to really make recycling work and really get all Americans to do it. Work hard on cleaning up the damn air!!!

8. A huge flaming liberal president would also probably do something like make prostitution legal, etc etc.

Anything I'm missing DUers? I told my friend all that and he looked truly alarmed by the end of the list. I asked him "Now does Kerry still seem like a big flaming liberal to you?" and he said "Hell no, that stuff's just crazy!"

Funny thing is, his wife was listening quite closely and became fascinated with the stuff about defense budget money being used to fund all those things and I said I got that information from truemajority.com She went inside to check it out!

Anywho. I love John Kerry. I respect and admire him greatly. The more I learn about him, the more I truly love him. I think he will make an excellent President and I will cry tears of JOY at his inauguration. But a HUGE liberal? It is to laugh, people. It is to laugh.

1. I guess they didnt watch The Daily Show making fun
of all that "The biggest liberal Senator" garbage they tried to attack Kerry with, does anyone have the link to that particular episode, perhaps then it can be shared with others to show how rediculous that statement is...

;-) they don't have much else these days, they keep going back to the same ole ole...their desperation is showing...

2. I think it was Alan Colmes who came up with this one.
Ask them if he's a hard liberal.
Then ask them if he's a flip-flopper.

I imagine you'll get a "yes" for both. Then ask them how he can be a hard liberal and a flip-flopper at the same time.

3. This country has moved so
far to the right that anyone near the middle is flaming to the right wingers. Like your list, guess I'm a flaming liberal too.

Clinton was conservative BTW and Dean is a moderate not a liberal at all. Just because they say something doesn't make it true.

4. Exactly
I haven't ever found a candidate as liberal as I am. Now I LOVED Dean, still do (he was my first choice actually) and I love Kerry and the Big Dog rocks and always will. But I really consider all of them to be very moderate Democrats.

Shrug. I don't get how you can think Kerry is some flaming liberal. How far off the map do you have to be to think that?

And that makes me wonder: how damn moderate and hard right is our congress if Ted Kennedy is our MOST liberal member?
