Good reason why we are down in the polls....to be expected
Kerry didn't do active campaigning in August.

Swift Boat attacks were strong.

Media has downplayed the events in Iraq, Swiftboat Vets has dominated the airwaves and not Iraq.

Kerry hasn't STRONGLY and CLEARLY replied on the Repub attacks so he is appearing not being able to LEAD.

And last but not least,

The build up to the Republican Convention and then the Republican Convention.

So Really, things are not too bad and not surprising. The real test is starting NOW. We can all take a deep breath, the worst really is beind us.

1. Are you that naieve?
I'm sorry, but the worst in this campaign is yet to come. Do you think they aren't scheming now about how they can shape events to stack the deck in their favor? There are a lot of dirty tricks that they could pull. They don't call them October Surprises for nothing.

And, with this administration, allowing ourselves to become complacent or underestimating them is just not a good policy.

3. No, I am not that naieve....
People are just getting all worried that we are down in the polls. I think and said that is to be expected for the reasons stated. The worst IS behind us in that Kerry is over his 30 day "no advertising". He can now come back and hit hard against Bush with COMMERCIALS. The 30 days kind of hit hard, combine that with the Repub. Campaign, the Swift Boat Vet, the weak response, or lack thereof, WHAT can you expect in the polls???????

As far as the October surprise, well, who knows what they have up their sleeves????? Powell, Rice, Rumsfield, Ridge, Ashcroft are all supposedly leaving - how is this going to transpire? What will happen with Iran, North Korea,.....Chaney? None of us know.

Of course, the BIG FIGHT is just starting, but our hands won't be tied behind our backs and if Kerry is such a strong closer.....well lets just hope that he is and that he continues to strike back and that the momentum against this admin. starts rising.

No, I am not naive, I worry everyday that this admin. has something planned and that it will kill our chances. I cannot do anything about what I don't know about, I do know that the 30 day no commercial time is over, the Olympics & the R Convention are over and we are still standing, so as others might say "Let the games begin!"

2. Please be right about this!
I've just been reading posts from really nasty Republicans (some on a thread by Skuk and others in the Google groups). I had to stop because it's too painful. Some of these comments remind me of out-of-control kids (I'm a retired elementary teacher). It's really depressing to read the vitriol.......my country has disappeared!

4. Not yet, but it will if we aren't vigilant.
This can be turned around but you have to know your enemy. Our big enemy these days is the media. It has been dumbed down by a trend started by Rupert Murdoch almost a decade ago. We have to fight them every inch of the way to force them to tell the truth.

5. I'm not completely up to date on media merger legislation but
I have a hard time believing that a corporation like Time Warner does not have some sort of interest in seeing Bush elected. What transpired with their poll seems so scripted, image is everything and even if Bush had pissed his pants and wound up in the fetal position on his wonderful stage an 11 point jump would have given them something else to discuss. There was a Senate decision on March 10 that had something to do with waiting 12 months for the Michael Powell merger plan to take place or was that decided this summer? At any rate with technology being what it is it is never a bad idea to have someone in the White House who is corporate media merger friendly. I'm just sayin'

Everything you need to know about Rupert Murdoch and how he has influenced the direction and Goebbelsization of our media.

What he doesn't own, he has influenced. Read it and be amazed.
