If Kerry is to secure the young single women's vote
He needs to start talking about the court is now only one vote away from overturning Row v. Wade. Most people don't have a clue about this. Chimp will get up to four choices on the court and if we lose anymore Democrats in the Senate, we won't have enough Senators left to filibuster. And, that will be that for the next 30 some odd years. I overheard one pundit say that this could be the sleeper issue of the year. Wish to hell Kerry could see that and jump on it.

This issue, if correctly utilized, could scare the BeJebus out of a lot of undecided voters.

2. 20 million single women between the ages of 18 and 30
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 11:38 PM by madmax
don't vote.

Heard this report on CNN the other day and almost fell over. Some of these women were well educated professionals such as a young female lawyer who said she didn't have the time to research the issues. Some said, they didn't think it matter.

We get the government we deserve.

3. Correct, it's not issue oriented
Just get them to the damn polls and they flood percentagewise our way. Young single males voted in 2000, primarily for Bush, while their female counterparts didn't bother. It's critical for Kerry to get them to vote, because our advantage among females is almost entirely with single women. Believe it or not, married women are basically 50/50, often acquiring the political taste of their spouse according to several studies, and white males of course are very Republican.

4. he already wins among them, so the issue is turnout
not just abortion, but i think things like helping them with child care or education and jobs would do a lot.

5. This is a good issue for John Edwards to take up
He's on the Senate Judiciary Committee and has been on the forefront of fighting Bush's bad right wing extremist judges. He knows this issue like the back of his hand.

6. Good Point, mbali
I'd like to hear Edwards make a lot more noise out there on this issue. Also agree with one of the previous posts, child care is an excellent point to hammer home.

7. I'm sure he will - but they're moving through messages methodically
Can't just throw them all out there at the same time - have to roll them out in a coordinated way.
