LOL Bush daughters tip $48 on comped $4,500 bill
DUBYA DAUGHTERS' CLUB CRAWL

September 4, 2004 -- JENNA and Barbara Bush lived up to their hard-partying reputation while in New York supporting their pop, President Bush, during the Republican Convention, according to our spies around town.

The twosome kicked off a week of fun last Saturday at Chelsea hot spot 17, where, we're told, they partied with a group of 20 guests till the early hours. "Jenna seemed more wild than Barbara," said a witness. "They probably got through about three bottles of Level vodka, and they were given a tour of the club by management."

The conservative cuties' next big night was Wednesday at Sixth Avenue nightclub Avalon, where they were in the crowd smoking cigarettes and pumping their fists to Kid Rock, who was performing on stage.

"They drank $4,500 dollars worth of drinks — bottles and bottles of vodka," says a club insider. "Then, having been comped all the alcohol, they left a $48 tip. We thought 1 per cent was kind of outrageous, considering they are the president's daughters."

But typical of the Repugs ... they don't understand what hard work really is, so they don't appreiciate it when they see it.

Sorry, but cheap tippers really piss me off. :grr:

12. With THAT for a family
how could they possibly be anything but Texas trash? It's not like anyone has ever taught them respect for anything or anyone. They've gone through life like their witless father, never having to take resposibility for anything, never having to pay for their mistakes, and always feeling a sense of entitlement and never gratitude.

Those two haven't had a chance, so far. However, they're now at an age when lessons start to be learned. Their alcohol soak of a father never bothered to learn. We'll see if they do.

at least that is what I've heard from my waitperson friends. They say they think it is because working people know how hard it is to make a dollar.

29. Yep, my SO is a lawyer but also a former waitress at a diner
and she always double-checks our tip to make sure it is generous.

Sometimes even when the service has been not-so-good, she tips well because she says that maybe someone called in sick and they're short-staffed, or the grill has someone out, or something like that.

She taught me to be conscious of tipping well too.

I know I shouldn't delight in their idiocy; I know it's not right. But I can't help it. They're unbelievable.

I also know I shouldn't say this but can you just imagine how the press would be all over this if the name in the article was Chelsea Clinton or one of the Kerry daughters?

that a clever 527 could work with under the table. Just run the ads, or distribute fliers, in fundy-rich markets, discourage the Republican base a little. Yeah, it would start a furor, and Kerry could immediately denounce the ads and force them from the air, but the damage would be done, and Kerry would look like a good guy as a result. The Bush daughters are a potential liability with part of his core supporters.

30. Admittedly, I didn't learn how to tip at a bar until
I was in my mid-twenties, and I was with a man who was not my date. I under-tipped and he showed my how to be more generous, but being relatively poor had a lot to do with my limited generosity. I don't undertip at bars any more (I rarely get to go any more), and I'm generous at restaurants also.

The twins should be more generous simply as a matter of the grace that's been afforded them. I suspect they tip poorly because they've witnessed their parents tipping poorly and they are too stupid to figure it out.

53. It's doubtful they've seen their parents tip at all.
I doubt the Bush family has had to pay for a meal, clothing or any amenity bought at a grocery store since 1994. Hell, remember the story of HW and the supermarket checker scanners?

Laura is the only one of them who MAY have had interaction with people in customer service earlier in her life. They have no clue and passed that ignorance along to their daughters.

50. I used to be a single mother and worked as a waitress.....
My daughter is working as a waitress and is trying to get through college. I don't go out to eat or to party without having enough money to tip 50% of the check. I know some people would think that that is going a bit too far, but I think that it's just making up for others who don't tip. As far as I'm concerned, if I can afford to go out to eat and have someone wait on me, I can afford to tip generously.

19. Figures
They should have been thrown out on their pampered asses. They obviously have no idea what it is like to depend on tips to pay your bills. I guess that's because they have full-time jobs guzzling vodka.

Let's do some math, shall we:

With 25 guests plus the two of them, drinking $4,500 worth of free liquor, that comes to an average of $167 each. If you assume they were drinking good stuff and were charged $10 per 1 ounce drink, and assume that each person drank the same amount, they each had the equivalent of 16 drinks. They must have been shitfaced.

23. Yes, the booze was free,
and that is why a $48 tip is all the more atrocious! What pampered brats these girls are. They said at the convention that now that they have graduated from college they are "looking for something to do". I have a suggestion: join the army, and then volunteer for duty in Iraq! They might grow up if they did that.

Alcoholism is often genetic, and they could be like their Daddy that way. Also they are both smokers, which often goes along with other drugs. I don't see much of a future for these two.

Of course they got bright futures. Five years from now Barbara will be getting into Harvard Bidness School, just like her Dear Ol'. Jenna will be starting her well financed midday talk show, with Hannity and Colmes and Scarborough calling her the "next Oprah." Ten years from now they'll both be on VH-1's "The Surreal World" fighting off Kid Rock in the hot tub. After their celebrated come back, Barbara will run for president and win 6-3. And then we'll teach them Frogs a thing or two.

Are the Bushes so strapped for cash they can't afford $4500 so the club had to GIVE it to them?

The Boobsey..er..Bobbsey..er Bush twins' saga is really so much more compelling than Roger Clinton, but how many of the news 24/7 stations have talked about this story? Damn that librul media!

24. Repuke tipping habits already reported on
DELEGATES KEEPING FISTS TIGHT (the rich follow a no tipping policy)

By GERSH KUNTZMAN
September 1, 2004 -- Hey, delegates, open your wallets!
That's the unvarnished advice from tip-starved concierges in hotels where GOP delegates and their families are staying.

They say Republicans are the certainly the party of fiscal restraint — at least with their own money.

"I wouldn't call them bad tippers — I'd call them non-tippers!" said Thomas Potesak, a concierge at the Sheraton Manhattan, where the Alaska, Iowa, South Dakota and Virgin Islands delegates are bunking.

friends of mine (underlined used to go) and almost always one of them would win a sizeable jackpot on the slots. They never tipped anybody and when I would win and tip they would be all over me saying "all they did was bring you the money". I tried to get across to them that the tip for for the many other times that they brought you money so you didn't have to get off your butt and leave your machine. They never, ever got it.

If the Kerry girls had been sucking down bottles and bottles of vodka during the DNC, this is ALL the media would have reported on.

Hell, even Teresa's 'shove it' comment received massive publicity before our convention, while Bush* admitting the war on terror couldn't be won at the beginning of theirs (and then flip-flopped the next day) made nary a ripple.

The double standard is really astonishing.

that I would serve a bunch of people like that without putting on an 18% gratuity- which is fairly common for parties of 6 or more- as a restaurant manager I would even call them up the next day and tell them this- ESPECIALLY if I was dumb enough to comp their $4500 tab-

I don't think I'd let Jesus, Trane, and Mother Teresa drink that much and give them a FULL comp anyway- charge them for one double shot of Tanqueray so someone would have to bust out with a credit card.

47. We expect them not to tip -
But as the adored children of born-again Christians - is drinking and smoking even allowed? Not sure. Many, many, OK MANY, years ago I went to an evangelical church and I know I was told many times I was headed to hell on a bobsled if I - drank, smoked, danced, wore make-up, had sex, lied, said a cuss word, disobeyed the parental units, broke any laws, slacked on homework, didn't pray every night, learn at least one bible verse a day, tithe a full 10% (allowance was a quarter), never gossip (have you ever heard the gossip at one of those Sunday dinner on the grounds picnics? Lucifer would blush), or crossed the street without looking in both directions. I made that last one up but it does seem they went out of their way to include anything resembling human behavior. According to these guys all of this was etched in stone tablets brought down from the mount by Moses - the bible just addressed the abridged version of the commandments.

Quit going when I was about 16. Hypocrisy is one of the first things that start blipping on a child's radar screen. Can spot it a mile away.

Common practice in this sweet little country "holy house of God" was for the preacher and deacons to catch a smoke out on the front steps of the church between Sunday School and the hellfire and brimstone preachin' to rail against the aforementioned sins. Common knowledge that at least two of the leaders of the church were alcoholics (hung over EVERY Sunday - slept through the sermon - lived in a dry country - you really had to go out of your way to be an alcoholic in that place and time!)and the youth director had to stand in the back of the church for three Sundays in a row - he had gotten his ass full of buckshot diving out his neighbor's bedroom window - the neighbor's wife went out right behind him - both nude. (Rumor had it she was saved from the indignity of a dimpled butt. She sat up in the front row with her husband. Sure there is a moral in there somewhere.)

This isn't an anti-church message - it's an anti THAT church message. But over the years I have seen many cases where some of the so called "born-agains" are darkening the church doors on Sunday morning but will stab you in the back Monday thru Saturday and call it just business (a la Bush). They apparently think it is okay to be mean-spirited and money grubbing if you stand up and act the pious and holy "born-again" a couple of hours each week.

Long story, not so short - Jenna and Barbara need to stay home and read the bible with their devout parents and not be out breaking all those pesky commandments. Whatever were they taught at home?O8)

48. Not to mention pesky laws.
Let's compare presidential daughters: How often were Chelsea Clinton and Amy Carter arrested? Caroline Kennedy? How often did we see pictures or hear reports of these Dem daughters getting drunk, smoking, or doing the sort of "Girls Gone Wild" routine the twins seem to practice pretty much all the time.

And while we are at it, how often has John Kerry been arrested?

It seems we have a pretty clear picture of which party's candidates (and their families) practice real family values.

And, of course, we have no record of any Democratic First Ladies killing their ex-boyfriends. An accident, sure--but an accident caused by, um, breaking the law.

Can you imagine the Republican (and media) outrage if Amy, Chelsea, or Caroline behaved the way the Bush daughters do? Can you imagine if Hillary or Theresa had killed an ex-boyfriend the way Laura did?

51. They also ignored smoking laws, smoking away on the dance floor
In the wee hours yesterday morning, reporters were on the hunt for the real rock stars of the Republican convention -- those irresistible Bush twins -- and found them hanging out with a posse of pals in the DJ booth at Avalon, a 1846 Episcopalian cathedral-turned- dance club.......

Jenna Bush, in a "lacy white shirt," drank Miller Genuine Draft and, in evident violation of New York's prohibitive smoking rules, "lit up and shared cigarettes with friends as she danced." Meanwhile, sister Barbara, wearing a "black silk dress and pearl necklace," clapped along to the tunes.
