Where is the SwiftLiar backlash?
Many of the people on this board who accused those of us concerned about the Swiftliars said we were "doom and gloomers" and that a massive backlash against Bush* was already in motion.

Well, where is the evidence of this? I still maintain the Swiftliars and the weak, delayed Kerry response hurt us. I also doubt that Bush* will suffer any from the attack. So, come on guys, where is your evidence of the backlash?????

1. Watch specifically the unfavorables for Bush in the next polls that ask.

A backlash will not appear, or appear immediately, in the horse race numbers.

The Time poll that has upended this place, did not, incidentally, ask about right-track/wrong track, or favorable/unfavorables.

3. So, as of now there is no backlash evidence?
We must wait for some more polls.

2. First of all equal time was not given to the Kerry camp
for the first two weeks of the "free" advertising CNN, MSNBC, and FOX gave to this ad

It may have affected the veteran vote for us, but most people do NOT really care about it

The important point is that Kerry MUST be on the attack, he cannot let these scum set the agenda

4. People are incredibly naive if they think........
these ads aren't really hurting Kerry. To suggest there will be a huge backlash is to give entirely too much credit to the electorate.

5. How are the Democrats fueling a backlash?
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 11:10 AM by a new day
I agree that ignoring the Swift boat smear hurt Kerry, and I don't think the damage was limited to veterans.

I know that Bill Maher is a comedian and not a political analyst, but a question he asked Howard Dean last night was right on the mark. If Kerry can't handle an attack like the one from the Swift Liars (Bush), what will he do against someone smart, like Osama bin Laden?

Frankly, much as I want Bush re-defeated, I can certainly see that concept being the deciding factor for someone to vote for Bush. Particularly after the 4 day scare campaign just completed.

6. That backlash is EVERYWHERE
Two weeks ago the letter to the editor columns were full of those charges...this weekend they're full of letters comparing the campaign to Fahrenheit 911 and shouting they're both dishonest attack ads.

Two weeks ago Rush was gleefully repeating the charges to his dittoheads...this week he's trying to convince them the Clintons are behind the ad campaign, funding it to discredit Bush.....

7. We need to put this behind us.
This debate is over. The campaign has recognized that their approach was not all it could have been (although there are still a few desperately clinging to the rope-a-dope judo chess cya bullshit, have "augmented" their staff with fighters, leaked stories that the campaign is shifting toward direct and immediate responses, and has, in fact, proved those stories to be true in recent days.

We have work to do. Let's go do it.

8. They have? Specifics, please
Aside from Kerry's midnight response in Ohio, what's been the direct response? What's been said about Mr. Only-I-Can-Save-Your-A$$?
