I am not in Panic Mode
I do not really worry about the polls. I tend to believe, like Michael Moore, there will likely be a strong contingent of unlikely voters voting. I am concerned that we are letting Bush/Cheney determine what the "subject of the day" is going to be.

The Kerry/Edwards campaign has got to get a more aggressive. Once again today I see that Snarly Cheney has managed to get the first attack criticizing Kerry http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040904/ap_on_el_pr/cheney_6 and we have responded. The response was perfectly fine, although I don't remember what it really was.

We should not be allowing them to set the tone and tenor of the day, it just puts our campaign constantly on the defensive. We need some daily offensive maneuvers. All those potential unlikely voters will lose interest and respect if we keep allowing the bad guys to get the first slap of the day.

Are we really too nice? Is that the problem?

1. That is exactly the problem
Bush has pulverized Kerry's perceived strength--his service in Vietnam. Kerry should be attacking Bush's only strength--his so-called success in fighting terrorism. Kerry has so much to work with. Where is the attack?????

Why focus on the economy and jobs when Bush has made 9/11 and national security the election's key issue?

Why have they not fired Shrum yet???

3. Because Kerry was forcedinto a box by voting for the war resolution...
and this is important...I spoke to a woman a few days ago who I had convinced to vote against Bush almost a year ago...

And now?

She's voting for BUsh...why...because Bush is sure of his ideas (even though this woman supports almost none of them) and Kerry flip-flops...

I showed her Kerry's speech before voting for the war resolution...and she wasn't impressed...said that it seemed like he was hedging his bets...

The first thing Kerry needs to do is fight the ward flip flopper...its not a flip flopper when you change your view based on new information...its called intelligence!

4. And the longer it goes on the more we will lose
Call out Bush on his flip flops, and there have been many. Come up with a fresh label. We are appearing namby pamby while the Republicans tout their strength and Bush gets to provide the appearance of the kindly Warrior father.

6. I don't have the answer, but they need to do something
that illustrates our strengths. We are letting the bad guys call us wussies and we are percieved as whimpering about it.

2. Im with you ....
Polls Schmolls ....

They got their bounce ... and that is all they will get ....

It's time to get ugly towards the GOP candidates and their associates, AT THE SAME TIME: it is also time to strongly annunciate a strong vision for what america should stand for ...

It is not impossible to run a multi-faceted campaign: The negative attacks should be comprised of two tracks: those that defend, point for point, issues such as those the SBL's have insinuated, and issues like the Flip Flop lie: ... Kerry's campaign should produce commercials that relate DIRECTLY to these claims, and refute them POINT BY POINT .... DONT let a false attack go unrefuted ... The second negative track should attack the honesty and service of the president and VP: they should GO AFTER Bush about his ANG 'service': the SBL's have opened a door that should be exploited: Bush cannot defend his lack of evidence any longer: hammer him on this ... Cheney's deferments also provide an angle of attack: Cheney COULD have served, and yet didnt .... this should mean something .. it should cost them political currency ....

The POSITIVE facet: should provide a mix of vision and plan ...

1) WHAT is kerry going to do about Iraq ? .... SAY IT LOUD !
2) WHAT is Kerry going to do about Jobs ? ... SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR !
3) WHAT is Kerry going to do to protect America ? ... SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR ! ...

The people NEED to hear more detail about WHAT he will do, as much detail as they can generate ....

This fight is just being met: ... it is far from over ....

THe debates should be interesting: Kerry should be ready to respond to:
1) Flip flops ..
2) Military Service ...
3) Support of military programs
4) New health care initiatives and how he is going to pay for them: SHOW the charts and budgets, if necessary ... just like that little man did in 1992 ....

Kerry should also question Bush about his NG career ... ask him what military service awards he received ... Ask him what his greatest accomplishment in the Guard was .... Dumbyas military career is fair game now .... The debates would be a great time to air it all out ...

This game isnt over: ... The GOP got their bounce: I consider it to be weak ....

AS one great DUer likes to say:

LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS ! ....

5. The Game is not over
What goes up must come down. Your points are well stated.

I just want some simple declaritive sentences from the campaign, more offense than defense and stop being afraid to take a serious stand THAT DIFFERS FROM BUSH.

8. I Hope So
I certainly hope things even out quickly, because the very thought of 4 more Bush years scares the shit out of me.
