Bush as laughingstock.
I love Kerry's anger, but Kerry also needs to make fun of Bush. Laughter at Bush's expense would energize Dems, attract independents, and confound Republicans.

I still remember hearing an interview with comedian/thinker Mort Sahl on NPR. He said that the Dems don't seem to have any good joke writers like they had in Kennedy's day. Sahl said it worried him.

Kerry should just make a phone call to Al Franken and say, "Al, the country needs you, and I need you. Can you think of anything about George W. Bush that we can make fun of? I'm stuck."

1. Agreed. And it would also piss the Chimp off and we
all know how he acts when he's pissed off.

2. That's right
People like to join in when there's fun to be had. People like to be "in" on the joke.

3. Excellent point ... only if Kerry could deliver it ...
He's a little light in the humor area IMO

7. I think Kerry would be fine with good material.

Bush just sits back and acts out the material he is given. He reads the speeches "with feelin'" and collects the applause. Kerry could do the same with laughs.

4. It's a great weapon
And probably the best to counter their lies. Look what happened when we all started laughing at Zell.

6. Plus Stephen Colbert & Louis Black & Ed Helms or the others....
I'm not sure how Clinton heals if he is immersed in politics, but I sure would have him issuing a suggestion a day to Kerry, if he's willing and able. While he's getting the Rx, he should issue Rx's.

8. Likewise. I've been reading a book called Soft Targets, and it

basically underlines that message (using humor (ridicule) as a defensive weapon). Good book, by the way, by Dean Ing. Anyway, I've been using Arnold's "Girly Man" tag on Bush supporters (there are a lot of them where I work), it fits so well.

Bushite: Bush is kicking Kerry's ass, they are going to take away Kerry's medals, Rush said so!

Me: Bush is still a girly man, walked away from flying jet fighters to work on some guy's political campaign.

You get the idea.

Girly man: can't eat a pretzel, can't ride a bicycle, can't stand up on a segway, was a male cheerleader, afraid of horses.

Pretty petty, I know, but I think I have to respond to these Limbaugh fans any way I can.

9. I like this idea. Dubya is already the laughingstock of the internet.
What a goofball -- & sooooo much material.

weapon ridicule is in campaigns. Ford falling, Dukakis in the tank, and Gore inventing the Internet and Kerry flip-flops etc.. I was thinking of giant foam cowboy hats in bright yellow as a good comeback for the purple heart band-aids. Or pink band-aids with yellow hearts on them.
