Wait until some polls are taken after the holiday weekend....
No convention any of us remember has been held the week before Labor Day--vacation week for many. I can just imagine how this effects the sampling. As a matter of fact, I'm sure it affected the TV ratings for the RNC.

Let's just relax and see what happens when they begin polling after the Labor Day weekend, when things are back to normal.

2. It's really an untested scenario when you think about it...

4. I remember reading in my political methodology course..
that polls taken during holiday weekends are usually bunk.

I'm not one bit worried about right now.

And then we have any number of events that will bring Bush's numbers down. GI-1000. F9/11. MoveOn's ad blitz.

I predict that Time and Newsweek's polls will have Bush's lead at least cut by half when their next polls come out.

5. I'm glad you agree with me...
I'm sure * received some sort of bump, but these numbers are a bit over the top.

I'm not about to buy into the "Kerry is a lousy campaigner" meme. They already tried that with Gore.

6. I looked at some 2000 polls taken right before Labor Day (not many were)
As I suspected, not many polls were taken that week (Labor Day was Sept 1st)--I found just 3 at polling report

I found 2 Newseek Polls with odd results that but Gore far ahead in the lead:

8/30-31/00 Gore 49 Bush 39 Others/undecided 1 3 8 755RV Newsweek
8/30-31/00 Gore 53 Bush 41 undecided 6 755RV +/- 4 Newsweek

One was from Pew (a larger sampling & extended time period):

8/24 - 9/10/00 Gore 47 Bush 41 1 2 9 1,999RV Pew

I wonder what would have happened if the Gore campaign had taken these polls too seriously. Very weird numbers.
