McCain's "washed up terrorist" line just baffles me.
I mean, it just sounds as if he's saying "Has been! I know MUCH better terrorists than Bill Ayers!" Did anyone else think the wording is just so off on that one?

1. He's cutting the legs off his own number one issue.

6. Funny how he does that continuously
No wonder he doesn't get the win even though he attacks more.

2. The bigger thing is that William Ayres
is not a "washed up terrorist," for Pete's sake. According to Wikipedia, He is now a "professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar." Doesn't sound "washed up" anything to me. A former terrorist, yes. McCain can't seem to say anything that is not contemptuous.

Perhaps the "washed up" phrase is projection.

4. yeah, that's another point.
Maybe McCain just hates him because he was a hippie. Newsflash to McCain: you are a washed up Senator.

8. Ayers has transformed his life and the Republicans
continue to attack him.

Obama handled it perfectly.

3. It is really weird. I mean, it's sort of like calling someone an "old washed-up murderer".
If you really believe what you say, you can't just back down from that without losing credibility.

5. What he means is

He is still a terrorist, but just not a very good one anymore.

This is what we call 'washed up' athletes...athletes who were great in their heydey, but are hanging on and can no longer get it done.

The implication is that Ayers has not redeemed himself and is still a threat to the state, albeit a less than competent threat.

McCain is moose shit.

That is an odd characterization.

9. It's a way of bringing it up while pretending to dismiss it.
"Look, I didn't come here to talk about the time you raped a puppy...."

Trouble is, he fucked it completely up by then going on and on about it. Had he said that and moved on to another issue, he may have achieved his goal. Instead he just looked like a disingenuous idiot. Again.
