Kerry and Edwards have to find a way to get more coverage on the network news programs: ABC, CBS and NBC. As much as I like C-Span, the truth is, most Americans are not politicos and do not watch it. Hell, most Americans don't even have cable, so they can't watch CNN, MSNBC or Fox, either. Just look at his rally the other night. Only C-Span covered it in its entirely. Maybe 0.1% of Americans got to see it.
Kerry and Edwards need to do something that will get them more coverage on the network news and news specials like 20/20 and Dateline. John Zogby says that if Kerry were to announce a major stem cell initiative before the election, he could steal away as many as 20% of Bush's voters. Finding a cure to diseases like Alzheimers, Parkinsons, diabetes and cancer are major issues for all Americans. Aside from a few right wing fundies, Americans overwhelmingly support stem cell research. There it is. Game, set, match. It would be in the bsg for Kerry.
I have repeatedly said that stem cell research and education are sleeper issues of this campaign. Bush has the nerve to talk about NCLB, when he has repeatedly refused to fund it. If Kerry were to hold major rallies announcing major policy proposals that would be discussed and debated on network news and news specials, he could close the gap with the chimp.
