Kerry says he's happy with polls
<AKRON | In a roundtable interview with Ohio newspaper reporters, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry said his support in polls is satisfactory — most have him tied or trailing President Bush — because his campaign has stayed off the TV airwaves for a month to save money.

Now, Kerry said he's going to gain ground as he "tells the truth" about the country's problems under the Bush administration.

"I think we're doing just terrific, and as the next two months go forward and we're campaigning and advertising and explaining to people the falsehoods and distortions of the Republicans, I'm very confident we're going to grow and do better," he said.

He finished a three-day Ohio swing, dubbed "A Stronger America Begins at Home," with a rally Saturday evening at a park in downtown Steubenville.
As he had since he spoke Thursday night in Springfield, Kerry all but dared voters to put Bush back in the White House.

"If you think your income is better, if you think your job is safer, if you think you're earning more money and you're saving more money, if you think your health care is what you want it to be, if you think outsourcing is good for America, go vote for George Bush," Kerry said.

"But if you think you can do better, putting people back to work, strengthening our country, having health care, restoring our schools, it's time to vote for a new direction.">

1. But where in there does he attack
Bush for LIHOP or MIHOP? And he should have called him "AWOL" a few times for good measure. And promised to have him locked away as a war criminal. Doesn't he want to win??????

3. I honestly don't think that will help him much
People who want * declared an enemy of the people (whistles innocently) are already voting Kerry. Now he's got to get through to the folks who generally vote Rep, but have been so stomped by the current administration that they're starting to wise up and just need a little push.

I honestly don't think too many people are undecided. I know I've never met an undecided person in my life. What we need is more of the other side to officially defect over to ours rather than just paying lip service.

7. I work with undecideds
Some who voted for Nader because the major parties didn't talk about the issues that matter. Talk about how to make the every day person's life better.

11. and Kerry talks about it as mentioned in the article but as typical of the
ones who complain the most, they tend to be the least informed. funny you say kerry needs to get off vietnam when he didn't even talk about vietnam in there and he talked about taxes, health care, jobs, home ownership etc.

18. NOT really

There are a lot of people voting Green or not voting because they see no difference in the two parties.

Some highly progressive talking points would not hurt this campaign.

21. Don't interfere when the enemy is destroying itself. Kerry is doing
just fine. We just need to show that young THUG Republican beating and kicking that woman at the RNC, we need to show Zell/Cheney in their house of rage, out of control, angry, and contorting their message. We just need to show that there's the George Bush that talks a good slogan but doesn't walk any thing.

I bet there won't be any debates!

2. I hope
I get to meet that man in person someday and shake his hand. Right now he's second only to Clinton among living political figures I hope to meet.

14. Both Clinton and Kerry have intelligence, wit, bearing, statesmanship
and social skills in abundance. Clinton has pizzaz. They've both got what it takes to be numbered among the truly great in American history.

Nimrod, you have excellent taste in character.

22. Bear in mind
We had eight years to be genuinely impressed by Clinton. Give Kerry time, he's still the new guy. :)

4. Well a response I'd expect
A candidate always has to keep the campaign upbeat so this is a good response to a convention bump.

Unfortunately the truth is that he needs to get off of Viet Nam and start talking about issues we care about. Bush was genious at his convention sauing he'll appoint a panel to reform the tax code. Doesn't need to have a plan because he's appointing a panel. So where is Kerry's panel on Health care? Nobody is talking Health care and next to Terrorism it's the #2 issue. If you link employer cost to hiring it can be linked to jobs.

The campaign strategy SUCKS!

6. what ? that's what he HAS been talking about
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 01:10 AM by JI7
there was no mention of vietnam in this.

but those who complain and rant the most are the ones who don't even pay attention. they are too busy ranting and listening to themselves to actually pay attention to what is being said and done.

this article is about Kerry talking about the issues like taxes, health care, jobs etc

8. He talks about health care all the time
Just today he was dissing the record 17% rise in Medicare premiums. I'm not even gonna bother to go provide links for you, but he hits it in every speech.

In case you haven't been paying attention Kerry has talked extensively about health care- it's one of his main topics. Get focused

Yeah it's against the rules, but really. If you don't know Kerry's health care plan you haven't been paying attention at all. Get the fuck out of here, you made a wrong damned turn.

10. He should have said, HELL, no!
But that s because of all the lies the Bush campaign is telling.

And I will fight back, & tell people the truth.

13. Kerry makes a good point
He hasn't really been running any ads in the past month. Let's see what happens when he does. The Time and Newsweek polls with their 11-point bounce for Bush IN A WEEK just makes no sense to me.

Kerry ads. Excellent. I feel much better.
More pictures of John Edwards, please!

19. He's absolutely right....
"If you think your income is better, if you think your job is safer, if you think you're earning more money and you're saving more money, if you think your health care is what you want it to be, if you think outsourcing is good for America, go vote for George Bush," Kerry said.
"But if you think you can do better, putting people back to work, strengthening our country, having health care, restoring our schools, it's time to vote for a new direction."

That's the campaign right there...not who did what last century....
