Kerry ahead of Bush in Oregon polls
<Two other Republicans - Tom Burns and his wife, Sandra - came to the booth to volunteer to help out with the Kerry campaign.

Burns said President Bush has tried to take the GOP too far to the right. And he's incensed about what he sees as Republican-inspired attacks by a group of swift boat veterans who criticize Kerry's Vietnam War record.

"It's just pure bunk," Burns said.

The 2000 race in Oregon was breathtakingly close - Democrat Al Gore defeated Bush by a scant 6,700 votes - but statewide polls have shown Kerry with a lead of 8 percentage points or more over Bush.

"We're still a battleground state that could be won by either side, but we are not a toss-up state like we were in 2000," Portland pollster Tim Hibbitts said. "Kerry is clearly ahead in Oregon right now.">

1. Breathtakingly close!
Minus the Nader (Green) vote, Gore won in 2000 by a comfortable 5+ percent.

I have to laugh at the media whores and the so called analysts. Don't tell the Republicans, but Oregon is solid blue. Hibbetts is right- and he's hedging his bet.

3. Nader did not make the ballot in Oregon
Extremely important, because the 2000 presidential race and 2002 Oregon gov race were much too close for comfort. Oregon votes by mail, and I've always wondered why there are no DU conspiracy theorists proposing truckloads of Democratic votes being undelivered or burned.
