In NC ---> "Early voting sets first-day record"
:woohoo: This is a very good sign because the Democrats are pumped in this state!

Early voting sets first-day record

Raleigh, N.C. — More than 100,000 people across North Carolina cast ballots Thursday on the first day of early voting, state officials said Friday.

The number shattered the previous record by about 40 percent, said Gary Bartlett, executive director of the State Board of Elections.

"We were expecting long lines from the beginning," Bartlett said. "I do not think it will thin out. I think it will increase, especially during the last week and a half. I believe that there will be continuous lines."

7. That is why the GOP is always trying to prevent people for voting
This should bode very well for Obama and Democratic candidates in general.

5. My early polling place had way more African Americans voting early
than I've ever seen and I usually vote early at this same polling place.

It was great to see everyone voting. The line went fast.

10. Same here in Georgia.
And the voting precinct staff was roughly 50/50. My husband and I were so happy to see how many people had turned out!

9. "Almost two-third of those who voted Thursday were enrolled Democrats"
Almost two-thirds of those who voted Thursday were enrolled Democrats, while 21 percent were enrolled Republicans and 15 percent were unaffiliated. It was unclear whether they voted along party lines.

I have noticed here in NC that the Obama campaign has been pushing early voting. One reason this is a good thing is that if you were wrongly caught in NC's voter roll purge, you can register and vote at the early voting site - one stop. The McCain campaign here has been pushing paper absentee or voting on election day. No mention whatsoever about early voting.

I personally find this odd. I also in my conspiracy minded self think that this is part of the way they plan to defraud the voters of NC. There is a huge body of evidence that the 2004 results in NC were not representative of the actual votes cast. Why would grouping repubs in election day and absentee only be helpful? They can CLEARLY see how many people are voting. They can figure out how many votes they have to flop on election day. It also makes the exit polling much more difficult.

Watch the down ballot races. I predict that you will see an amazing sweep of local races and a super tight presidential race here in NC.

FWIW, I have still not decided if I am voting early or not. I HAVE filled out my sample ballot and know how I will vote though ;)
