Ben Afflek is a dick head
He said on Bill Maher's show that he "likes" Sarah Palin. :wow: Palin is a total fraud who believes in some of the most fringe ideas in the world. She is a racist, xenophobic, homophobic, ignorant, religiously intolerant fool. Every time she opens her tattooed trap, she places Obama's life in danger.

Ben Afflek lost me on that one. I used to respect him, too.

Go figure. Love Matt in Bourne Identity. He always plays bad ass characters. Ben is always in some costume or playing some guy who thinks he's really fucking deep or smart or something.

Go Matt Damon!

I LURVE Matt Damon. He's a lefty ALL the way. Not only is he cooler, but he's more talented and smarter than Ben. Plus, he gives LOTS of money to progressive causes.

I like Ben okay, but based on Matt's past interviews, I hardly think Matt would say he "likes" Sarah Palin. What a chickens**t thing to say.

Hopefully the rest of the show was better!

I fell asleep during Maher's opening monologue, but I have seen Afleck MORE then enough to know he is a strong D.

Palin is now an institutionalized JOKE, some off hand remark doesn't make a strong D an evil turncoat.

Actually, from his numerous appearances on Maher's show, he's usually show more intelligence than people give "stars" credit for. But with that, I think he made it kind of clear he was talking about her looks.

72. I didn't see the show and I would ordinarily agree with you.
But...Ben should know that these are very critical times and that we have many, MANY incredibly STUPID people voting. He should know better than to say ANYTHING remotely positive about Palin...to give even one person a reason to vote for her.

If he said it about her looks he is equally wrong. I thought she was pretty too, on day one. But her hatefulness, blatant lying and sheer stupidity has made her UGLY! It's very shallow to see beauty as being only skin deep.

11. Luntz was on the show and Affleck made some random, arbitrary remark about him probably liking Palin
more than Luntz likes her. (was that a sly remark about Luntz's sexuality or something?) Maher asked him repeatedly to explain why and Affleck seemed like he didn't want to get into it. He did say, however, that she is like one of the regular people or some crazy ass shit.

42. Isn't Luntz a Republican pollster ?
At least I thought he was...so my reading of that is that it could be a reference to the effect Palin is having on the polls for McCain-Palin ticket. She is definitely a net drag and not a net positive for that ticket by now, so a kind reading of that remark is that it would be a reference to her dampening effect on the polls?

25. Affleck is not a wingnut and what I perceived was...
after Maher kept after him to tell him why he liked her, he said something about how he didn't really want to say or go into it and then added he thought she had some appeal that isn't always present...

I took it as he was trying to say he thought she is attractive...

And Affleck is not a wingnut. He's been on Maher plenty of times before and has made his leanings quite clear....

and how he is supposedly a big liberal, went to DNC conventions, etc. I thought he was sincere about saying he liked Palin. Maher seemed to think he was. He was also, in the beginning, taking up for Joe the Plumber. This is no time to play it safe down the middle. It's time to get hardcore partisan on these THUGS in the GOP.

41. Thinking about HIS political future
its been speculated that he will run for office one day in Massachusetts. Guess he isn't trying to alienate anyone. He was just trying to show he could be the candidate for stupid people also.

Ben is more visibly politically active and partisan than Matt. I believe Matt is more issue driven like angelina jolie who refuses to endorse anyone and is sometimes complimentary of bush.

Check out his campaign donations:
http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Ben_Affleck.php

From the archives of the Charleston (WV) Gazette:

Charleston's sweetheart, movie star Jennifer Garner, and her actor husband, Ben Affleck, are campaigning hard for Barack Obama for president. They both gave speeches at a Miami fundraiser for the Democratic nominee. Garner - the 2007 West Virginian of the Year - was "very witty, clever and funny," according to People magazine. Affleck told the crowd: "All of us are here because we just want Barack. We believe in what he wants to do: ending the war in Iraq, universal health care." He called Obama "extraordinary ... a genuine, real force." The couple also hosted their own Obama fundraiser in Affleck's hometown of Boston - and they supported him at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

... and I believe Affleck has also appeared in MoveOn ads for Obama.

58. Yeah. Let's demand that Ben take back all his Obama donations and stop
hosting fundraisers for Obama, since he's in the tank for the GOP!

how many on-the-fence voters will be?

Jennifer would kick his butt, even if she is way pregnant. It was probably a joke, probably an insiders joke.

59. Actually, he said, in defense towards Frank Luntz that he "probably
likes her more than you do". Then Bill Maher made him defend the comment, which he refused to do, or couldn't, made some backwards type compliment to her, and visibly dropped the subject and passed to Martin Short. I didn't get the impression at ALL that he liked her. It seemed like something BEYOND satire. Did you see the entire episode?

64. because luntz is a gay
That's why every time he's on the show, Bill touches him and Luntz throws a fit.

Enough with the Bush horseshit though, people. This whole 'with us or against us' crap needs to end. Why let someone you hate control your life?

71. Maybe, as a strong Obama supporter he was trying to be gracious about her. That
is the only explanation I can conjure up about why he didn't talk about how dangerous she is. Maher was very surprised.

87. Study: 38 Percent Of People Not Actually Entitled To Their Opinion
CHICAGO—In a surprising refutation of the conventional wisdom on opinion entitlement, a study conducted by the University of Chicago's School for Behavioral Science concluded that more than one-third of the U.S. population is neither entitled nor qualified to have opinions.

"On topics from evolution to the environment to gay marriage to immigration reform, we found that many of the opinions expressed were so off-base and ill-informed that they actually hurt society by being voiced," said chief researcher Professor Mark Fultz, who based the findings on hundreds of telephone, office, and dinner-party conversations compiled over a three-year period. "While people have long asserted that it takes all kinds, our research shows that American society currently has a drastic oversupply of the kinds who don't have any good or worthwhile thoughts whatsoever. We could actually do just fine without them."

In 2002, Fultz's team shook the academic world by conclusively proving the existence of both bad ideas during brainstorming and dumb questions during question-and-answer sessions.

88. He didn't say he agreed with her, or that he was voting for her ...
... just that she's likeable.

Which, in a way, is the entire reason the GOP put her on the ticket.
Certainly not for her brains.

In the real world, she could be one of those 'likeable' PTA moms that you chat over the milk and cookies with ... nothing more.

Ben is and probably always will be a strong, strong Democrat.

Try not to overreact so drastically next time ...

90. actually...last night was the first time i liked him, LOL
i'm a Damon fan myself, heh

but i thought last night he actually made a good point...or, if not 'good', a pretty salient one w/ regard to Palin and part of what she represents about Americans

after the hemming and hawwing about not wanting to say, he finally said (this is close to a quote, but maybe not exact) - "i think she represents a large part of American that is often overlooked in this country by the left"

i thought it was actually an astute statement, and one i've thought in the past. there IS a certain level of disdain and disgust for some of what she represents, or at least some of what her supporters are identifying with.

NOTE: i'm not arguing that there's not PLENTY about her and the far right that IS disgusting and detestable, but it's a disservice to put all of 'small town' America or all of non-educated America or whatever into that same ugly box.

good people abound in this country. i believe that, and i believe OBAMA believes that.

anyway...that's all i thought he meant. i'd actually thought him more of a himbo before last night :)

95. I thought he did a great job other than one comment which you shouldn't stretch the meaning of to fa...
If you watched the show he was one of the strongest advocates on why people of wealth should pay higher taxes and all the things government does for that money and he went off on how it is now acceptable to say that a "Arab" is not compatible with a good family man because of the environment the media has created.
