McCain invites Joe the Plumber on the trail
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

This is becoming ridiculous. They are just going to use him as a prop, while lying about Obama's tax plan.

I think this, too, is going to backfire.

23. It is like they are JUST campaigning to the "base" ...
someone else said it, and it is true.

All the "independents" in the focus groups during the debate were turned off by Joe the Plumber.

Since picking Palin, it is like McCain has been a fly to fire - EVERYTHING his campaign does is red meat for the base, and with it turns off an increasing portion of the independent voters that win elections.

5. Obama should invite members of plumbers unions
And let them do the talking.

Also, Joe happens to not be a plumber.

He is a store clerk who has helped his boss do some plumbing jobs, but he is not a licensed plumber.

22. Union plumbers are not too fond of Joe "the scab" non-licensed plumber.
When Joe goes out to do a job for his boss, he has taken the job of a union plumber. So go right ahead Senator McCain...Get the union voters even more pissed off than they are. I am sure there are a few union people out there who planned on voting for McCain that may change their minds once they see him parading around with a SCAB!!!

14. CNN Cut the comments off after only 23, all of them noted how he was not a plumber
and cheated on his taxes

but, what stood out for me was McLame saying, “I talked to him this morning for the first time ever,”
Why did he have to throw that in “first time ever,”. I smell a big fat lie!

Want a chuckle here are a few comments, Hell I bet they are all from DUers

barbara miller October 18th, 2008 1:46 am ET

JOE the planted plumber: I WANT ANSWERS TO THE ISSUES - NOT YOU as a poster child!
CNN: You're amazing - you open comments for this kind of crap but when it comes to Palin discussing abortion and/or attacking in other ways - no comments?
CNN: you just keep reporting the incidental & your ratings will falter.
CNN: really nice touch putting footage of Reverend Wright as Babe Buchanan spoke tonight.
CNN: I've gotta wonder if you're gonna censor this comment as well.

Anne October 18th, 2008 1:44 am ET

I have lost all respect for John McCain. Palin has ruined the ticket. John has allowed her to run her mouth, angering much of the country. What was he thinking when he chose her as his V.P.? It's sad. My vote will be with Obama/Biden.

Texas Doc October 18th, 2008 1:44 am ET

Maybe he should invite his good buddy G. Gordon Liddy, convicted felon and Nazi sympathizer to appear with him as well. C'mon guys lets welcome him onboard as well…William who?

Joyce of Ohio October 18th, 2008 1:33 am ET

This is crazy. Joe the Plumber DOES NOT HAVE A BUSINESS!!!! He cant even buy a plumbing business because he's not licensed. What he owns is a lien for back taxes. Please stop the madness!!

And he ADMITTED Obama's plan is better for him.

9. i think he will accuse anyone who questions it of attacking a "regular" guy
or some other shit.

kind of like they did with Palin. when anyone questioned her they said it was sexism. i don't think it will work because the guy just comes off as an asshole and not likable.

The evidence keeps on seeping through suggesting that this guy is a plant. They used this guy to spy and get the goods on the Obama campaign. When they failed with the initial meeting, McCain took over promoting this guy . He used this guy's image in an ad nauseum fashion until enough people began to adopt the fraud that was being perpetuated. Now, that people are looking into Joe's history, McCain is doing his best to make this a "cover your behind" situation.

The realization that this man continues to embrace Joe without taking into account all the lies surrounding the "so-called plumber" demonstrates that this man is less than honorable.

Furthermore, I'd still like the Keating angle to be explained.

I wouldn't be surprised if Keating had something to do with it, knowing that he's still bosom buddies with the McCains.

11. Joe the so called Plumber is just a tool!
Thats all it comes down to, McCain hopes to use this guy to get some more votes, its the same thing he did with Palin and trying to hopefully take all the Hillary voters. "Joe", wait is that even his real name? and is he really a plumber? No and No, the guy is just a tool, at this point McCain would have to cure cancer in order to gain any kind of momentum in this race!

15. Stupid stunt by the McCain circus
I love this:

When asked why he called Joe, Buchanan said, “I think he just wanted to reach out to him.”

Whether Joe is there in person or not, he is certainly a star at McCain events. McCain urged others at the rally to contact Joe and share their support. “Send Joe an email and tell him you are with him, ok,” said McCain.

Maybe we should set up a group therapy session for poor Joe.

19. But wait, wasn't McCain getting his crowd to boo Obama for causing "Joe" so much trouble
with the media intruding on his life thanks to Obama seeking him out and putting poor Joe in the spotlight - which was another baldfaced McCain LIE?

So after McCain gins up more anti-Obama sentiment, he decides that more publicity won't be a problem for Joe if it benefits McCain. He's such a smarmy asshat.

30. Too funny.
Does McCain envision this working and history books looking back and saying "McCain was trailing in the polls until his brilliant move of bringing in Joe the Plumber to make the connection to the middle class."

It just conveys his lack of seriousness in the face of the real troubles we face. It reminds us of how Bush put unqualified people in serious jobs - Brownie, Monica Goodling, Gonzales. It reminds us of how Palin put her old schoolfriend in charge of agriculture because she liked cows. It reminds us of how McCain made Palin his running mate.

Time for the grownups to be in charge.
