I feel like a tool... I May have inadvertantly made a vote for Bush.

The other night after work, a friend that I work with and I went to get food. The TV's were playing convention speech replays and we both kind of laughed and shook our heads.
She said " You know, if i were registered to vote here..." and I cut her off. I asked her where she was registered, she said she was in another county of NC. I told her she could send in an absentee ballot, that it wasn't too late to register in this county, told her the NC State Board of Elections website so she could look up the precinct, polling place and other info about her current regisration.
I told her that I keep a stack of voter registration cards in my bag, and I would bring her one. And on and on and on....
Then she finished her sentence. She said " Yeah, if I were registered to vote, I would vote for Bush."

The silence was deafening.

ask her why she'd vote for Bush. Tell her you are simply curious, as Bush has screwed the elderly, the military, teachers, the working person, etc--whatever you think might make her stop and think.

Maybe you should go to the Deep South and ask some of the veterans of the 50's and 60's to school you up on how to prevent people from registering when they disagree with you.

I certainly wouldn't encourage someone to register if I knew they were going to vote for Bush. Obviously, I wouldn't try to prevent them from registering, but encourage them-NO!
