Obama rally, St Louis, MO: 100,000 people, maybe 150,000? PICTURE
I just listened to it live and heard there was a picture out there. Wall Street Journal of all places - they had this picture. WOW, picture worth a hundred thousand words!!!:bounce:

Barack Obama attracted 100,000 people at a Saturday rally here, his biggest crowd ever at a U.S. event.

The crowd assembled under the Gateway Arch on a sunny Saturday afternoon to hear Obama speak about taxes and slam the Republicans on economic issues.

Lt. Samuel Dotson of the St. Louis Police Department confirmed the number of attendees piled into the grassy lawn flanked by the Missouri capital and the Missouri River.

A Rasmussen poll released on Friday shows Obama leading in Missouri 52% to 46% for McCain.

That's incredible. I gotta take back every bad thing I ever said about St. Louis.

I have a hunch Kit Bond and all those Missouri rethugs are getting ready to be very, very nice to Obama.

17. Heard one of my repug friends say that
last night. He's a talking points repeater. Knows repugs are losing, keeps saying he doesn't care what happens, seems angry and won't talk, yet says he's "pro-American". Last month it was "Americans are whiners." I challenge him mercilessly, until he storms off.

Compare 100,000 to the McCain rally right outside of Charlotte (NC's largest city, MSA population 1.5 million). McCain had 7000 peopple

Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 01:58 PM by fishwax
Since the Missouri Capitol is 135 miles west in Jefferson City  The building is actually the Old Courthouse building.

Boy, what a great crowd, though. Great pic and great scene. Thanks for sharing it Shoelace! :bounce:

The Missouri River dumps into the Mississippi about 30 miles north of St. Louis.

Great to see my Home Town is coming around. I left that place because of all the racists.

acceptance speech was estimated at 80K but before the media fried the numbers, the police said it was more like 95K, fire marshall allowed it.
Thousands outside didn't get in either. Fascist media!

32. Meanwhile CNN slams Biden as only having '1500' at his rally ...
... while Palin supposedly draws 'enthusiastic crowds' +20k.
(I guess enthusiastic is a euphemism for 'insanely racist'??)

Sorry mediawhores but 150,000 > 20,000 ANY DAMN DAY OF THE WEEK.

45. How large were McCain's crowds before he chose Palin? For that matter,
how large are his crowds now when she doesn't appear with him? And he's the top of the ticket! Wonder how many people Pawlenty or Romney would attract.

38. Jesus. The crowd is so ginormous, the stage looks itty bitty.
CNN and MSNBC better show this rally, if they haven't already. Three times today I have had to get off my butt, walk into the other room and change the channel because they were showing McCain's sad little rally.

They either feel sorry for the angry old man, or they figure every Democrat in the country is attending Obama's rally in St. Lous (by the looks of it), so why bother broadcasting it when no one is home to watch it! Yeah, that's the ticket.
