Polls closing... whether true or not.... this is the time to keep calm and work harder than ever.
Its certainly getting intense.
Polls may be slipping back towards the center.
The Media is doing its traditional 'oh-actually-its-quite-close' routine.
The slimes are coming thick and fast, more than ever.
This is the time to keep calm and work hard.
If ever there was a moment to keep one's nerves, keep together, keep working together and, on an individual basis, make a difference, this is the time.
Get out the Vote.
Cheers
BK

1. good point....
I wish I could do more....I have been making calls at Obama phone banks but I now have to leave the country to help a sick parent.

It's hard to keep it together after what happened in the last 2 elections....election day cannot come soon enough.

6. Hey I'm in Switzerland... I'm virtually doing all I can...
I think we all have our limitations. You're obviously doing what you can do... and no one can ask more. We all have the daily family life to deal with.
Even a few votes can make a difference. What if Ohio was as close as New Mexico...?
Best to you
BK

2. I absolutely agree! One part of my brain tells me that the media
is saying things like that for selfish reasons. If it looked like the race was over, they'd lose viewers and advertising $$. Another part of my brain say, what if I'm wrong. What IF all those robo calls are actually working. What if voter intimidation DOES keep a lot of voters home?

I honestly don't know! Because I don't know, we should all keep working as if Obama was 5 points behind!

11. You're Right
The media does have a financial interest in pretending it's close.
We're not citizens to be informed, we're just "eyeballs" they sell
to advertisers.
I hope a media reform bill can be brought up in the next Congress.
Grocery stores aren't allowed to sell us cans of tainted shit and call it food.
Canned shit shouldn't be allowed to be broadcast as news either.
They both make people "sick".

And yes, work like we're still behind.

5. I think fivethirtyeight's analysis is spot on
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/

It's ticked slightly closer to "close" but not a lot.

Still, we'd rather have everyone thinking it's close than allow the idea of "it's a cakewalk" to enter the group mind and therefore risk losing the election to illusions.

9. Certainly the trackers are off the battleground states polls...
I've been following them very closely and McCain continues to lose ground... even as the national tracking close.
Pa, Mi, Wi are all strong Obama.
Va, NC, Fl leaning Obama.
The Rocky states lean Obama, NM particularly.
Only in Indiana and a lesser extent Missouri does it seem McCain seem to be holding ground.
All this would still persuade me to say we need to keep working, regardless. This cat is certainly not in this bag, at least not yet.
Cheers

13. Absolutely -- the margin has to be as wide in the final vote as possible
It's the only way the GOP can't steal it.

10. I agree.. work hard no matter what. But.. I do have issues with two polls RCP uses.
One being the Hotline/Diaego, which I googled and found it was done by Financial Dynamics, run by a lobbying client of Phil Gramms, and has heavy ties to Gramm and other repubs. Also, they use Zogby, who does NOT use proper methodology for true random sampling and has taken money from right wingers to produce PUSH POLLS.

So, I'm treating the polls with caution and general "whatever" because they say whatever the people paying for the poll want them to say. we just need to keep our heads down.. and NOT repeat the meme that the repubs are using this week about the polls closing in, because it's not true, and they're using it to make their thieving tactics more plausible.

I say we just work hard and keep our heads down.
