The new memo from FOX NEWS -- "Is Obama trying to BUY the election?"
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 06:13 PM by brooklynite
This afternoon I heard a Fox Anchor ask this burning question, allegedly based around the notion that Obama should have taken GOVERNMENT-FUNDED Campaign Finance, rather than spend the hundreds of millions he raised from ordinary Americans. You can't make this stuff up.

29. Ill always wonder why W took matching funds
those zealots would have given the sky. Wait till FAUX hears that he raised 100Million (16 million more than McCain has for the ENTIRE of the campaign) in September.

3. Unbelievable...
They have no problem with the fact that the RNC skirts the fundraising laws during every election and the Republicans usually outspend the Democrats by a huge margin despite both supposedly being funded by the government. Bush had a ton of money from the RNC.

14. The only way ANY candidate can logically buy an election is if...
they have several hundred million dollars OF THEIR OWN MONEY that they are using in lieu of FEC funds or private campaign donations.

A campaign based on the donations of millions of American supporters is truly the Democratic process.

Obama IS NOT buying the election. The American people are making their choice heard.

30. IT must have focus grouped well from a few days ago
This is fed by the "spent the most money ever on negative ads" spin and CNN reporting *GASP* he is spending $52 a SECOND on ads!!!!

Well sucks when someone goes around the predetermined system, creates his own, and is better at it than anyone every before huh?

32. No, We the People are trying to buy it FOR him.
Yes we gave the money to Obama but he's spending OUR money.

Want to talk about public finance of a campaign? Guess what? This IS public financing. The Public ARE financing his campaign. When the most one person can give to a particular campaign is $2300 (I think) there is really no where else left to turn really except the public.

Mark.
