1. Unfortunate, since PPP is a left-leaning.
:(

2. They are probably one of the pollsters I trust the most, and this makes sense.

3. I think we can chalk up W. VA as a loss.
But I'm still hoping for Virginia (the 'real' Virginia, LOL)

4. I say still go for it.
Might make McCain spend some money there. Who knows?

14. NAh, they already get bleedover from efforts in VA, OH, and PA
IT doesn't take much more to saturate the WV media environment from there.

5. WV has been trending back red the last week or so.
Pity, but we've got lots of other states to play with.

6. read the details: McCain the adulterer wins because of his "family values" lololol as
family values is the second most important concern after the economy. have these bible thumping hypocrites never read the 10 commandments?

7. The economy is pretty bad there yet they focus on..
moral values and cultural differences? That's sad.

I won't give up (we could still campaign there,) but appears there is an uphill climb after all. Only an ARG poll has ever had us ahead.

9. Oh well; if their voting machines keep switching Obama votes to McCain votes
it won't matter if we're able to close the gap by Election Day or not...

11. WV was always a pipedream
I read that Obama is spending money there now though...and it's a small state so ads can make a big difference if McCain doesnt put up some ads of his own. This forces McCain's hand, making him have to waste money defending West Virginia when he could be using that money other places. For Obama, that money is no big deal because he pretty much has to be creative just to figure out how to use all the money he has.

I wouldn't be too worried about this poll though. It DOES show that Obama will probably do respectably in the western region of Virginia itself which is good. Furthermore, Obama doesnt need WV to win. If he won WV, he would definitely have won VA too, and winning VA would pretty much seal the election anyways. So WV isnt needed.

13. Yes BUT it is telling that the NRA isn't flooding WV with ads
the conventional wisdom (in the old Bob Shrum Dem world anyway) was that the NRA owned WV and any attempt there would be drowned out by NRA ad money.

the fact that the NRA isn't spending money there tells me that they don't see it worth the money much as the RNC will choose to put their money into trying desperately to hold on to 40 Senate seats and not waste it on McCain.
