Kerry must have had an awesome Saturday in national tracking poll
Rasmussen which has been doing daily tracking polls since January has been clearly indicating a close race. But on Thursday and Friday Bush spiked ahead by four points 49-45, but today, it is a virtual dead heat once again--Bush 47.6% to Kerry's 46.4%--only a 1.2% lead for Bush. Two-thirds of the interviews were done after Bush's acceptance speech (three day rolling averages). Which means to me if on Thursday and Friday Bush was averaging 49-45, then Kerry must have had a very good Saturday.

I think the TIME and NEWSWEEK polls have been sufficiently discredited even by Scott Rasmussen for interviewing more Republicans than a reliable sample should.

4. I don't believe we should be focusing on polls
at all, but to the extent that we do, this is the sort of value they have. Kerry being down in polls is an opportunity to build a story, Kerry as comeback artist, Kerry as a guy who wouldn't let bad polls bring him down. Instead we have hand wringing and fingerpointing.

10. That right
Don't focus on polls, focus on working hard and getting out the vote and registering new voters.

15. We need to write our own headlines!
Let's NOT let the corporations choose a president this time. Let's do it ourselves as Americans this time.

5. The Republican Convention was an embarassment and now Time and
Newsweek put an addendum on it with their polls. They tried. They failed. They embarassed themselves. And everyone knows it.

7. I liked the Kerry I saw on Saturday!
He came out swinging without smearing.
Just stated the truth, but it is still hard to get through to those who they have sold their smears to.

14. No we can't put our hopes in any pollster
and Rasmussen himself admits he sucked in 2000. He says he has taken steps to correct that. So far his polls for 2004 have been very consistent and usually with Kerry leading by a small margin or even between the two. But who was right in 2000? not Gallup for sure, or TIME, NEWSWEEK, ABC Washington POst, ect all had Gore losing to Bush. Only Zogby and CBS put Gore ahead in their final polls.

16. He does take off the jacket, depending on the weather.
I have seen him twice here in Ohio. Both times it was a hot day and he immediately took off his jacket upon being introduced.

Great point but he does take his jacket off. A lot. I'm surprised you haven't noticed.

Again, glad to have you around. :)
