The race to represent the 3rd Congressional District features a rematch between two Gold River residents: incumbent RepublicanDan Lungren and challenger Bill Durston, a Democrat.

Lungren is in his second term representing the district. He was California's attorney general from 1990 to 1998 and represented Long Beach in Congress from 1978 to 1988.

Durston in 2006 was a political newcomer. He's an emergency physician, practicing in Sacramento for more than 25 years. Serving in Vietnam as a Marine patrol leader running reconnaissance patrols was a defining experience for him.

1. The Bee can be crazy sometimes

I've almost just stopped reading it. I mean, there are some good articles occasionaly, but the all-over-the-board politics approach is a little too much.

4. i was pissed, i volunteered for Durston, i have met him and i've also met Lungren

at a town hall meeting and he was a dick. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they would even bother to endorse Lungren at all.

5. I'm not in Sac any more-

Now in the beautiful city of Stockton -where I'm seeing WAY too many yes on 8 signs by the way- but I met Bill and his wife, and did some phone banking for them and they are great people. Guess it's a good thing for us that no one reads the bee anymore.

I'm just trying to ride the coattails of this Buchman thing and get Bill some money.

6. I too, hate the Bee.

Yesterday they had an article on Placer County and had a picture of our Auburn Dem office. They highlighted and put in the picture, yeah, you guessed it, a republican who is working 4 hours a week for Obama! He was able to tell his story. The Dems who bust their ass in that office daily and who are in the streets in this red district were not mentioned nor photographed. I still have that article. I risked my life putting up Obama signs in Auburn last week, by myself, in broad daylight, and was not given a mention!

Edited to mention if you are coming back from Tahoe, get off on Bell Rd - to the right are my signs (2)! Get back on after you've seen them. They will be the only Obama signs you'll see at a freeway exit until you get out of Placer County!
