Five years from now is Palin in politics or show business?
I don't really she a future for her in politics, but am sure the networks will throw tons of money at her to host some kind of talk show or preside over one of those unreality based reality shows, along the lines of "Chillen with the Palins."
And maybe that's all she wanted from the beginning, greater celebrity.

6. I think she'll try for politics
Although people will blame her for the GOP's loss, the establishment will continue to soothe her ego and tell her she's a star that just shoen before her time. Palin's ambitions won't stop until she's failed again had her inadequacies beaten into her. Think Lieberman in 2004.

However, Republicans are very good at taking care of their own. (Gordon Liddy, Oliver North, etc.) When she comes around she'll have a cozy career as a pundit on Fox.

17. Neither.
Five years from now she's doing an occasional blog or TV appearance for some RW evangelical church and not even living in Alaska. She'll most likely wash out of politics once the press gets into her doings in Alaska.

29. Read the New Yorker article about her selection...
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 10:50 AM by Two Sheds
we have a thread about it somewhere on this board.

The point being that she will stay in politics. Alaska is conservative enough for her to stay in its politics. And if you read the article in the NYer, you'll see she has neocons like Bill Kristol in love with her. They'll try their own narrative of this election. It will go something like this: Palin won the election for McCain, then the economy tanked and McCain's liberalism finished him with the GOP base. It's the old lie: we didn't lose b/c we were too conservative, we lost because we were not conservative enough

By Xmas 2010, there will be a nice big ghostwritten autobiography of Palin on the shelves. It will focus on her faith (for the base) and her "co-author" will be Kristol or some other neocon.

I think she's boxed in, though. She'll still be joke in 2012 and she'll have to run against a brilliant politician and campaigner who will have the additional advantage of being an incumbent POTUS. If she waits for 2016, she'll be fighting against a large field whose frontrunner and runaway money raising winner will be Jeb Bush.
