Tail number for Bush's f-102?
Has anyone ever seen the tail number for the fighter he flew?

A freeper is telling about some records that could be used to trace the history of *'s aircraft.

"From other discussions, e.g. with the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell AFB near Montgomery, Alabama, which I visited in 1997, I found out that, as a rule, military unit records are usually kept separate from personnel records, which were the files incinerated in St. Louis. AFHRA keeps the Air Force's unit histories and individual aircraft casualty reports (MACR's, pronounced "mackers"), as well as a classified annex. The unclassified files are open for inspection by the public, by appointment."

1. Only one guy says he saw him there
how could be have a number? That would mean a ground crew had prep-ed his aircraft.

9. ON GUARD -- OR AWOL?
Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 62: “I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with.” But, says Mintz, that “somebody” -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember.

3. It isn't exactly clear that he ever flew a plane like that.
There is on record of him ever flying that plane. It of course makes sense, since that was a weird hard to fly plane. I doubt that that dimwit ever flew anything except as a passenger

5. For people who can prove they served with him in AL, yes.
GB Trudeau (Doonesbury) posted a $10k reward.

6. It seems like the rest of those guys in that "unit"
were of a similar background. Most likely none of them ever showed up either.

7. I don't think Bush has even tried to say he flew while in Alabama,
has he ? He could not have because he did not take his physical due in July, l972.

Read here how he tried to scam the Air Force. He lied on his application for transfer to Ala.

8. I don't think that Air Guard folks have
an assigned airplane, since they would not be flying it "every day". More likely that there a number of planes (12-14) to a squadron and more than 12 pilots (one weekend a month) assigned. Even on active duty it happens that there are like 12 planes and 15 pilots to a squadron. While the 12 most senior pilots may have their name on the plane, they may not fly it each day.

That said, it's a truism in the AF that the plane can't fly until the weight of the paperwork equals or exceeds the weight of the airplane. All kinds of forms have to be filled out before and after a plane is flown. Find those and you'll have a lot more answers.

It won't solve the Alabama question since he was not on flight status there.
