Who Needs Donations Most? MoveOn, DSCC, DNC
I'm stepping up my contributions and want to know who needs funding the most, and who is most effective- So far it seems to me MoveOn is willing to hit hard

10. ACT throws away a lot of money
on palm pilots, fancy jackets, and pay for people who don't perform. If you want a hardcore voter registration and turnout group working with people of color I would suggest Project Vote.

Also the DNC is doing a lot of that work and running ads in swing states. It's hard to go wrong with them. I would also suggest looking at a Congressional race that doesn't get a lot of attention but could be close.

14. Please back up your assertions with evidence of ACT ineffectiveness.
Thanks in advance. You'll be doing all a favor if you can back up what you say.

15. Haven't you seen ACT workers?
Don't they have palm pilots and jackets, hats, t-shirts etc? Or are they not working in your state? ACT has press articles where they brag about how high-tech they are. ACT spends plenty of time getting press, so people know who they are. That doesn't mean they are the only or even the best group doing that work this year.

16. They wear T-shirts around here.
They might have Palm Pilots, but they've also registered more than 15,000 in Portland, OR as well as a ton of voters in other swing states (70,000 in Cleveland alone). Don't know what they do with those Palms, but if they feed databases that help them keep in touch with those they've registered, I'm all for it.

I have to disagree that there is a problem with their efforts, until you can demonstrate otherwise. I have been impressed with what they have done so far, though I can't disagree with you that DNC is a very good choice for donations.

19. Article on ACT and other VR groups
http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/news/9587142.htm?1c

ACT does good work. My point is that there other groups that do it more cost effectively. Project Vote also works with ACORN, which organizes low and moderate income communities. That means donating to Project Vote will result in turning out voters in communities that are traditionally ignored in the political process. It also means more of you donation money will go directly to registering voters, instead of extras like press people and palm pilots. Also, ACORN is not just an election year group like ACT, so their efforts will help them build power for low income communities after this election is over. ACORN won't abandon the communiteis they mobilize after the election is over.

17. I'm hitting various local GOTV focused operations in swing states
AR, MO, WI, and NH. It's kind of cool, in an odd way, to send mony to to people in a state I haven't set foot in since I was 12 years old.

I know it's not exactly statistally sound, but I operate under the proncipal that labor and other large groups take care of the DNC and that my paltry 300 buck donations just might have a big impact on the work oif some little local group helping kerry turn out voters in their neighborhood.

Call the state and local parties or local kerry offices. Ask them who's doing GOTV and for which voter blocks. Then choose your weapon and stick it to the chimp.

24. Thank you!
That's what I was going to say.

The County Committees are trying to open offices to do phone banking, outreach, and GOTV efforts. They always need help, including money!

THanks for mentioning that.
