The Time/Newsweek polls may be the best thing that ever happened to us.
So, for one thing, it's looking increasingly like the polls were done with bad methodology and skewed samples. But the media has already hyped these polls like mad.

Not only did the spike probably never happen, but now it's going to look to most people as if it did happen, but didn't last. I think that makes Bush voters look bad - like they are too emotional and wishy-washy. It also will make Bush himself look bad - why can't he hold on to a lead for more than a few days?

But best of all, the poll numbers put the fear of God into Democrats. Carville has come out of retirement, Kerry has shaken things up and Democrats seem resolved to put up a fight. Republicans may get the wrong idea and think that what they are doing is working much better than it actually is. Yhey'll keep focusing on 9/11 and ignoring domestic issues.

In the end, I think these polls were a blessing in disguise.

1. They are a blessing in disguise!
They basically show shrub at a peaked position. He will certainly fall from this point and the spin and momentum will go in favor of Kerry!

2. Agreed
and the seriously bad news from all quarters—the hurricane(s), Clinton's surgery, the Russian school horror—shoved Dubya's so-called bounce to page A2.

3. Yes. The psychology of it's quite good.
Esspecially since the WH leaked that it was "almost over" on Friday
