I actually haven't watched the show since it changed time slots and went to the 1/2 hour format, but what will become of them? I guess James and Paul will still be on from time to time respresenting Kerry, but who replaces them on crossfire?

6. Can you have candidate strategists on their own show every day?
I don't know for sure, but it sounds to me like something that would at least be ethicly wrong. Not to mention they SHOULD be too busy!

4. Who cares? Maybe Novak and Carlson can take

turns pretending to be liberal while the other snarls. They're both so slimy I got to where watching "Crossfire" nauseated me.

I quit watching CNN at all because of their behavior during the DNC.

5. I'm pretty sure they can still do that show--in fact
I'm pretty sure they'll INSIST on doing the show. It's ok to be partisan, there, those people aren't doing journalism.

7. I wan't talking partisan. I'm talking ethics and time.
We're talking about less than 60 days till the election. Would they really have time to do both?

10. they won't be running the campaign
they will be advising the campaign on strategy and message. They do this for several clients. They'll have plenty of time.

11. They're not part of the team, at least according to the NY Times.

The story I read about Clinton aides being brought on to help Kerry didn't include Carville's and Begala's names.

From the NY Times:

"The second is the Clinton camp, which includes Joe Lockhart, a former White House press secretary; Joel Johnson, a former senior White House aide; and Doug Sosnik, a former Clinton political director. And Howard Wolfson, a former chief of staff to Hillary Rodham Clinton, joined the campaign yesterday.

Mr. Begala, who said he would remain a CNN commentator..."

It did suggest, however that Stan Greenburg would be an advisor.

Is there some other story that mentions them? Or did I miss it in the NY times piece.

14. The following is from the NY Times link you posted:
"Among the better-known former Clinton aides who are expected to play an increasingly prominent role are James Carville, Paul Begala and Stanley Greenberg, campaign aides said."

16. Thanks. I am so bleary-eyed I must have missed it.
Part of it was wishful thinking too. I like Begala but I'm not a fan of Carville. I'm not so sure he was the one behind Clinton's success--he was part of it but he wasn't the campaign manager. That guy was the key, I think. I think Stan Greenberg and Joe Lockhart are great additions.

17. Oh yes, Carville was a big part in Clinton's success.
Carville loves Bill Clinton and admitted it on national tv. He worked very hard to put Clinton in the White House...and he did.

15. U missed this part.
The conversation and the recruitment of old Clinton hands came amid rising concern among Democrats about the state of Mr. Kerry's campaign and criticism that he had been too slow to respond to attacks on his military record or to engage Mr. Bush on domestic policy. Among the better-known former Clinton aides who are expected to play an increasingly prominent role are James Carville, Paul Begala and Stanley Greenberg, campaign aides said. ;)
