Clinton's illness could be asset for Kerry campaign

Washington — John Kerry ultimately could benefit from former President Clinton's health-related absence from the campaign trail, assuming Clinton recovers in time to stump for Kerry in the weeks before Election Day, political analysts said Friday.

Clinton's heart problems may hurt the Kerry-Edwards campaign in the short term, but Clinton remains popular with Democratic voters and could attract sympathy from undecided voters.

"If he comes back in time to campaign for John Kerry, I think it would be an additional plus," said Stephen Hess, a political campaign expert and George Washington University professor.

1. i could see him doing an appearance just before election day
nothing like heavy campaigning . but maybe go on some show like david letterman since he will be able to talk with someone he can connect with who had a similar surgery. so he can talk about that and he can use the moment to give a strong message in support of john kerry and other democrats.

it will help in terms of turnout.

the only ones who will be offended by that will be the haters who hate kerry for not dying in vietnam and who will probably hate clinton for not dying from his heart troubles.
