3 small steps for Kerry, 3 large leaps for America
OK, I've been asked privately and publicly to put up or shut up. I am genetically incapable of shutting up, so here goes.

What steps do I see as necessary for Kerry to win?

1) hire some lawyers and get them working now!

Lawyers? Now? what the fu??? Yes, now. Florida was stolen. Other states were close. Missouri was a catastrophe in terms of voter fraud. Maryland, Ohio, Wisconsin, Oregon, and even Arizona all will be extremely tight races. This Campaign MUST hire its staff now to protect the right of all voters to vote without harassment, games or dubious electronic voting machines.
yes, I know the state parties are fighting those battles. But either as direct parties or as friends of the court, the National Democratic party needs to put the courts, the voting commissions and the GOP on notice that we won't let it happen again. And the only way to do that is to set it up today. Now. Immediately. If not sooner. THIS MUST BE NATIONALLY ORGANIZED TODAY!

2) Hire some speachwriter/researchers to read House of Bush, House of Saud,

or O'Neill's or Clarke's latest book, and a whole host of other timely, informative and deadly materials. Collate, collect and start a broad attack based on the revelations contained in those books. This is not the time for cherry picking and delicate message building. Blunderbusses had their uses, it is time to whip it out and use these materials.

Get Kerry on his bike and off the damned prissy snow or water board.

Have him drive into meetings alone, no SS, on his bike and talk brass tacks. No more Mr. Nice guy.

there. A first step in winning this damned race.

1. As regards the third point:
Nice idea, but terrible at the same time. There is far too many nuts out there and they do very nutty things, at the drop of an impulse control.

No, SS protection is a price he has to pay and we have to accept. Anything else is lunacy.

2. They have an extensive lawyer network in place.
And you can click on the link in this message to donate to them if you want.

6. Fine. But where's the public splash? MIA, dammit.
Making a BIG DEAL over this would serve a whole bunch of purposes.

a) it would connect with each and every voter who has been or fears being disenfranchised.
b) it connects with our base, showing that he is fighting mad about scams and scammers like our friend Jeb
c) it puts them on the defensive, because the news story is now:

"Will the GOP cheat voters again, and can the dems stop them?"
-vs-
"Are the Swifties damaging Kerry?"

You really think that with public scrutiny, that the GOP can get away with their shit? no way.

d) It makes for nice headlines, and shows the undecided that he is strong, honest, and a leader of all America.
e) it prevents abuses before they can begin. No one I know, be it some draconian ashcroft loving neocon in Mizzoo or some paid off, bumbling, bribe-ridden scum in Miami can deal with the public spotlight if their competency is at issue. Let's put the spot light on them now. Make their names and their duties a household conversation. Kick off that cover from these cockroaches and watch them squirm under the media lights.

damn, I'm mad. and energized.

3. Good points...except for #3
Complete bullshit. First of all, Kerry likes to wind surf and snow board. I'm supposed to begrudge him this because the other guy likes to clear brush from his fake ranch and fall off bicycles? Yeah, I'll stick with the windsurfer. Second, only a complete idiot would drive himself ALONE to campaign events. I can tell you, as soon as Kerry started doing that, we'd no longer have a nominee. Fuckin crazy!

5. the other guy likes snow in the summer and
needs major meds to control his presenile dementia. But his handlers are putting a temporary face on him in order to make him presentable.

I am not advocating change, just a sales pitch alteration.

Most of the voting universe barely travels or gets off their ass. here is a guy who does things that are off their scope. Well, package it, not the way its been done, but in a professional way. Clearly, he has been missing pros in his election staff, otherwise, they would have done this already.

He's got some real pros on the campaign now. It should be interesting to see what changes are about to be made.

4. Point #2
I think is a particularly good observation. His speeches have been a little dry. I don't know if it is his delivery (a more serious problem) or his speechwriters are just giving him bland material (probably a bit of both).

7. someone is informing him...
It's pretty obvious to me he WANTS to say more than he is, but
someone (or ones) on his staff are limiting his field tremendously. Why? I can't tell you.

9. Are there any Gore people in there?
We need to purge this campaign of any Gore people or anyone related to the 2002 mid term races. And for Gods sake keep Donna Brazile off TV, unless they really do need to apologize for something.

11. I like Donna, but she is a resource that must be used smartly.
There are a few stepford wife-type speakers against whom she shines. But I agree, not a fulltime spokeperson.

As for the 2002 crew, thank them kindly, shake their hand with warmth and affection, even open the door. Then, close it.

One of the problem with Gore's crew was he is too nice of a guy and couldn't say "no", nor "stop it". Too many leaders, too many contrary messages. too many messes.

Today's people (before the additions) seem to be afraid of their own shadows.
