Buchanan said the Repubs were successful in NY because they ignored press
He said this a couple of days ago. He said the press was saying the press was saying Miller's speech was a disaster but the Bush campaign simply ignored the press and continued to sing the praises of Zell Miller and that is why their convention was so successful. How is that possible?

The Repub propaganda machine is more powerful than the mainstream media and swats them away like a horsetail swats a fly. Could the Democrats ever ignore the media in the same way? I doubt it.

4. I think they have met with Lakoff ??
But it is not something they can learn overnight. The Repubs have been practicing this at least since the Contract on America and Newt Gingrich.

6. good...
Thanks for giving me the heads-up on this. Yes, they have had a long time to work with it...but anyone who is savvy enough to imitate a technique could start. As a teacher, I have seen students read essays and employ techniques with some success. And they didn't have years to do it.

The beauty of this is that the Republicans have already done all the leg work and the research for the Dems. Someone needs to start using this asap. The Republican party has effectively used all sorts of theory against the originial writers of the theories. For example, look how they have used feminist theory techniques to take down the feminists, or how they have used others....

I guess what I am seeing is that the Republicans are good at using tools that have already been well-thought-out long before they used them in their politics. I don't see why the Democrats can't do the same.

7. I have heard Kerry himself use the term "war on terror"...
and that was one of the prime examples that Lakoff used to show what not to say...
