Alan Keyes gets booed at Labor Day parade
My mom lives in Naperville (a heavily conservative area) and Alan Keyes was in the parade. The entire crowd erupted into boos and refused to take the pamphlets they were trying to hand out.

There was a Bush/Cheney float, too - half the crowd booed it and half cheered it. That's actually a hopeful sign, since Naperville tends to go almost entirely Repub.

Does Keyes realize he's a laughingstock?

9. He hasn't yet ...

Keyes fucked up with racial remarks and now the NATIONAL Republicans are being forced to distance themselves from the candidate that THEY installed. The Illinois Republicans would have been much better off selecting from the runnerups who were still willing to mount a campaign.

11. Keyes Could Be Keys to Retaking The House...
Too bad Keyes wasn't the candidate during out 4th of July parade here in Pleasant Valley Sunday...but then none of the other major Repugnicans who used to show (Congressman, State big shots (there aren't any), State Senator (Fitzgerald showed in past parades)...all that was there this year was the State Rep, and that's cause he lives in the "hood".

I'm not far from Naperville and travel that and other "collar" counties regularly and the lack of * bumper stickers and yard signs in DuPage, Kane & Northwest Cook counties is deafening. The Repugnicans are in total disaray and Keyes has helped to divide them further. The only thing you can find they all agree on right now is what an embarassment and an asshole Keyes is.

That's why many of us are working hard...and appeal to DU'ers to give us a boost in taking advantage of this situation and grab some coveted House seats.

Check out the 6th, 8th & 10th districts in the DU CU area:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/cu/cu.php?az=house...

We're very active in the 8th...where we can see the end of the very inept Phil Crane. The candidate, Melissa Bean has worked hard in getting her message of change to a very large & disjointed district that was created to protect Crane...but as you can see, this seat is very takeable.

Here's her website:

www.melissabean.com

Without retaking the House or making significant gains, DeLay runs amok...so any help you can give to these House races are vital.

Cheers!

13. Holy Sh!t
That's definately GOOD news out of Naperville!

I've got a couple relatives who live there, and it is definately on the conservative side of things. That's quite amazing that a Bush/Cheney float would get a 50/50 reception at the parade. Too cool! Maybe there's hope for us yet!
