Out of Iraq in FOUR years.... maybe???
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites), on a Labor Day tour of states where polls show the race against President Bush (news - web sites) virtually tied, told voters he would try to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq (news - web sites) within four years.

1. We're building 14 military bases in Iraq. This is raising the price of
new homes a lot. They are up 10% since May. Now with all these hurricanes, the prices will go higher. Plus we are building the largest embassy. 4 years my ass.

3. Still playing it "safe". It's not working.
"Who wants to be the last man to die..in Iraq?"

The "war" is a failure. The Iraqis hate us. Most of the Muslim world hates us. The Middle-East is aflame. The rest of the world holds us in contempt. The "war" has created a spawning ground for "terrorists.

Of course, we can't possibly admit to the obvious and get the hell out until we declare "Peace With Honor" and watch the survivors get on that last helicopter.

4. And
we were supposed to be in Kosovo one year.

Kerry must be more aggressive on this issue and distance himself from Bush. He needs to present an agressive strategy for pulling US troops out of Iraq or we will never leave....

To quote the opposition... "We need a choice not an echo."

7. We broke it, we need to do what we can to fix it.
I'm probably in the minority here but I'd have trouble voting for anyone who said they would immediately pull our troops out of Iraq. This is the reason for my almost anyone but Bush stance. Iraq may degenerate into civil war or an Islamic terrorist training camp even with us there but we owe it to the Iraqis and the region to give it our best shot. Bush broke it and the problem is now America's. I hope Kerry can make this an international effort when he gets into office because it needs to be.

A big fear moderates and independents have is that Kerry isn't steadfast enough. Pulling the troops immediately would appear to prove those fears right.
