A Race War. I've been hearing about "the coming Race War" my whole life. It has never happened, and I don't think that it will ever happen. Young people today (30 down) were not exposed to as much hatred and bigotry as those of us who are older, and I really don't believe they see "race" in the way older folks do (or did). When I look at Barack Obama, I see a very intelligent MAN, not a black man, and I think America has matured enough to elect him. I am proud of the fact that he was even NOMINATED, and I believe that the world is looking to us to see if we have matured enough as a nation to do the right thing.

I admire John McCain for his service, and I really liked him in 2000. He has sold his soul to the part of the Republican Party that is ugly and vile, thinking he could appeal to the type that would PROMOTE a "Race War". Thankfully, he played the wrong card, and we may have a team of intelligent, thoughtful people running this country again. An Obama Presidency may well heal the divisions in this country over time. The far right types don't have the guts to go to the streets and encite violence. If any do, it will be a small minority and they will be dealt with accordingly.

All the right has left is FEAR, and it's not going to work. America has overdosed on fear, and they want somebody who cares about them, and someone who is INTELLECTUALLY equipped to handle the world. America is part of the world, like it or not. We are too interdependent on the rest of the nations of the world to go it alone, and going it alone is foolish. I don't care for extreme Nationalism, and I want to be at peace with as many as we can handle.

A Race War is the last thing on my mind. Things are going to be okay. Have faith.
