Kerry & Edwards-HONEST about their "youthful indescretions":
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 05:45 PM by Dr Fate
Sens. John Kerry and John Edwards both have admitted publicly to using marijuana as younger men. Mr. Bush — a product of the same generation — refuses to say whether he has.

THAT is the sticking point folks-not that Bush was hooked on coke, but that he never has come clean about it.

We need to make him come clean on this.

1. Agreed
I thought Clinton mis-handled the marijuana thing in '92, and I think that if a person did some expermenting years ago, it shouldn't be held against them now. But if bush can't or won't admit that he maybe tried a little cocaine, then someone needs to come out and say they saw him. America is a very forgiving nation and if a candidate just admits that they smoked pot or snorted coke a time or two, that would probably be the end of it.

2. Bush needs to exaplain the details of his cocaine days.
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 05:53 PM by Dr Fate
Did he do it everyday, or just try it once or twice?

Exactly HOW long did he do it for?

Did he ever seek treatment?

Did he ever smoke or main-line it, or was he content snorting it through $100 bills?

Until he is interviewed about it and comes clean like Kerry/Edwards, we are free to speculate.

3. And did he get busted for it?
There's that "community service" gig that is totally unexplained. GWB wasn't there because of some desire to give back to the cimmunity, either.

4. I could not tell you. The media needs to interview Kelley or Bush...
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 05:59 PM by Dr Fate
...or the folks Kelley interviewed, and get all the details.

Point is, we cant trust Bush on this until he does a heart-to-heart with the nation and sets the record completely straight.

Kerry & Edwards have been forthcomming with their youthful experiments- Now it is Bush's turn.

5. Are Kerry/Edwards clearing the way for an attack on Bush?
I sure hope so!

6. That will be the contrast- Honesty vs. Dishonesty...
It's not the drug abuse that is the big problem, it's the fact that Bush refuses to come-clean about when, where, how much, and for how long he abused hard drugs.

Bush has some serious questions to answer- questions Kerry had no problem answering.

8. there's a big jump from pot to coke
I think most Americans have tried or at least been in the company of people who smoked pot.

I've never seen anyone do coke before. Maybe I haven't lived the most exciting life ever, but I can't imagine that there are as many people who've tried cocaine as tried pot.

I think this can be an issue we can use, at least moreso than in 2000. If for no other reason than Al Gore was a really heavy pot smoker before he ran for congress, so it would have been hypocritical of him to bring up drug use.

Kerry has led a fairly clean life, as far as I know, so he should have something to say about this once (if) the story makes the media rounds.

9. Yep. And Kerry's plain honesty about it goes a long way.
Bush has been dishonest and quite unclear about when, where, and for how long he abused hard drugs.

13. man, I'd love to smoke a bowl with those guys
and if they do the right thing, and start taking the steps needed to end the drug war, maybe I'll get to in 30 years.
