New Rasmussen numbers from Michigan and New Jersey
The last two days Rasmussen has been releasing new polls from key battleground states in the wake of the GOP convention, today it is Michigan and New Jesey.

Michigan is in better shape than I thought. Kerry still leads by four points. 48-44 percent. If Bush after a month of non-stop attacks on Kerry can't be tied or ahead of Kerry I don't see how Kerry will lose Michigan.

New Jersey is a bit closer than I would like. Kerry leads by only four points, 50-46 percent. But it has been a difficult month for NJ democrats. Also Rasmussen has Bush getting 86% of the GOP vote while Kerry is receiving only 72% of the Democratic vote. This is bound to improve and we should expect NJ's numbers for Kerry to spike back up.

Rasmussen has both states listed now as toss-ups due to needing a five point lead to actually award a state to a candidate, but I'm confident that both Michigan and New Jersey will be strongly democratic in November.

1. a LOT of NJers work in NYC
and because of the crossings to the city, they were inconvenienced more than almost anybody else in the tri-state area by the convention. NJ will go Kerry.

3. I remember some weird polls before in NJ
had it close. There's no doubt it will go to Kerry, however. I'd much rather have it be Kerry ahead by 4 in NJ and MI than Kerry ahead by 8 in NJ and tied in MI.
